Ummm

Yes Bob I know that but to say that a DA polisher can not break break down DAT products is incorrect. Before the SMAT was introduced all we had to work with was DAT products.

M1 is rotary only and is being used in the wrong way. More suitable product that work at better would be M205 or even M105

I think you misunderstood my post. His machine cannot break down THAT DAT product. It was not a base generalization that a DA machine cannot break down any DAT product. Whether is because there are too many oils, rocks are too big and strong, it has a magical enchantment against DA Polishers, whatever, it isn't working with that particular product.

Which is why it says on the label rotary only. The use of DAT in my previous post was to emphasize the rocks were bigger and that's why he's getting the bad results.

Now, if you can buff that stuff down and make it look good on a DA, then good on you, that's some skill. But that's a lot of work to prove a ticky-tack point, and the OPs time would probably be better spent with a better suited product to get the results he's looking for.

Good advise:dblthumb2:
Works flawless with a DA.

I use 01 from time to time, little out dated but it does work well but I doubt you can work it all the way down with just a DA, in fact it could do more damage than good IMO.

01 starts out aggressive than after a few passes using a "rotary" it begins to break down into a fine polish, when using a DA it may not break it down fast enough and just cuts and cuts.

If you are looking for something you can pick up at the parts store, try Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish line.

The stuff you have there is old tech, essentially. It's a good product, mind you, but not for the tool you have (DA machine). It's from an era when detailing was a skill and art form that far fewer possessed a true gift at.

Advances in compounds and polishes have made really great results attainable by us laypersons. Use it to your advantage.

So Wolfgang is pretty good? I don't wanna go spend more money on something I won't get results from. What can I do now just to fix that one spot? Is there anything I can use locally to fix it? I believe I do have a small rotary polisher somewhere in the garage.

Thanks for all the info guys! I really do appreciate it!

That's contradictory, IMO, to say the least.

I'd recommend running to walmart or auto zone, advanced auto, or whatever you have near. Pick up some Meguiars ultimate compound, and ultimate polish. Combined they will run you about $25, and should give great results.

BTW, which pads are you using?

Yes, I'd start with a white pad, and ultra polish to see how that cleans up the paint. Do a test spot about 16"x16". 6-8 section passes using good technique. Then wipe it down and inspect the results.

If it needs a bit more, then step up to compound and an orange pad. Using the same technique, and then inspect.

Start gentle at first, then step up the aggressiveness to get your desired results.
