Hi all,

I need your advice if I'm doing something wrong...
I have Meg's Water Magnet drying towel and after using it a few times it seems to get soaked quite quickly and instead of absorbing water it just spreads them around :-/

I fold the towel to quarters or eighths (changing each quarter after it seems to be soaked), and once the whole towel stops absorbing the water, I can't barely squeeze any water out of it, and the towel just stays damp making it a little useless.

Should I use another drying towel? Or should I change to Cobra's guzzler or Mother's drying towel which both got great reviews on this forum?

Thanks,

Matan

I'm in the same boat, not happy with Meg's water magnet and looking for better alternatives.

Yeah, the Water Magnets are, bluntly, useless for serious drying. I'd allocated them all to my wheel drying towels.
I use either the Cobra guzzler, 20x40 or the Griot's drying towel, 25x35. The Griot's, while being smaller, seems to absorb more water than the Cobra towel.

I've never tried these towels but I have similar issues with my Cobra Guzzlers when I first tried them. I threw them all in the wash and after they were dried they worked remarkably better.

Subsequent washings improved their absorbance so I'm wonder if it was something in the fabric that needed to be washed out...

I have hand-washed the towel a few times now, and I haven't noticed a difference, maybe I'll try this week to machine wash it. However I don't have a big amount of microfiber towels to fill a washing machine with...

I also picked up some of these Meg's water magnet towels based on the reviews, and only cause the sonus towels I normally use/get were on back order . when I did get them they surely did not amuse me in any way . I have only used them once . no comment on them yet . I think these mfww drying towels gotta go through a little breaking in period ? I'll tell u this though , I do like the sonus towels but when I got that free guzzler I got a new fav towel now . I ordered 12 more in the med size . try a guzzler if u have not already done so .

I machine washed mine a few times; no improvement at all.

Either i am not in the "know" of good drying towels or I am in the minority but my water magnets work excellent, they precede their name perfectly. I can use 2 on my truck and beside door jams, sills, under hood, small spaces, etc. All the panels are dry. That to me is a great feat for such a small towel and large vehicle to dry. I have a couple guzzler knock-offs that work even better and were half the price but its not a fair comparison because they are much larger.

...should I change to Cobra's guzzler

IMO...These are excellent "drying towels" (please take note, if you will, of the: Made in Korea)

The Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler features only the highest quality Korean microfiber

Quality is in the details, and the Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler are no exception. Most towels feature a tag that's sewn on, but Cobra microfiber towels utilize a tag that's glued on so it can easily be removed. If you have a tag that's sewn on, you risk the chance of tearing the edge when you remove it.

You should always remove the tag before using your Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler.

what detergent did you use to wash them in?, and imo the cobra towels are over priced, as i will say again and have said there is a ceiling effect to microfiber towels where price goes higher but quality dont, can find same quality if you do some searching for a way lower price....what matters is the nap, blend of microfiber not the manufacturer, there is only a handful of high quality microfiber towel manufacturers.

Like many others I got a free Ultimate Guzzler with my order from the Detail Fest special. This thing is nothing short of amazing. The amount of water it holds is insane. You won't be disappointed.

I mainly use the Meguiar's towels like a chamois or blott with it. They are what they are. The Cobra Guzzlers are much better.

I use a Water Magnet without problems. I also have O'Reilly's version of the Water Magnet and it works just as well. I wash mine after every use and they still perform well.

I solve the problem of the missing towel by taking EVERY towel out to the parking lot and using them all to wash the rental car. Then put them back in the room before I check out.

I wouldn't use ANY hotel towel on any of my cars so there is no danger of theft from me.

Rental cars only.

Lol my ultimate guzzler is still on its way here; order got delayed from DF due to backordered item =( but anyways, I also have these as well: Blue Waffle Weave Drying Towel, car drying towel along with like, 5 absorbers.

The hands down best one I've ever seen though, has to be the CG wooly mammoth. I only wish some of my towels performed even 3/4 this well.

Cheaper than the guzzler, it's thick as hell, and it absorbs like mad. But given that i've never used the guzzler before, I hope that it will absorb as well as this too; since I live in canada, the wooly mammoth isn't available to me.

I love the Mothers Foam Core. It holds its shape so you can hold it up to a vertical panel and blot dry. I have the Metro MB so I use the Mothers mostly for ONR now. By far my favorite of all time. I can do the Ford with one!

I too like this towel. Any surface that is horizontal I use this towel to blot the water up. It works remarkably well. It also works very well on the front of my Mustang where lots of water LOVES to hide.

For the vertical panels I use the cobra guzzler. By far it's way better than the Megs water magnet. I've got two water magnets because I found that one wasn't enough to dry the Mustang.

Technique is also very important. Are you sheeting the water off before you begin trying?
