Up Close & Personal: Detailer's Paint Coating

I did a 2008 Mercury Sable and a 2013 Ford F-150 with a topper and I still have what feels like half a bottle left.

Somewhere on this thread or was it another, I remember seeing Nick mention it. I think it's in the product description listing at the Autogeek store too.

I would give it a little over a year with my experience of the manufacturer's product claims. Maybe a year and a half so it may be worth it. If it can last me through a WI winter and then some I'll be happy.
 
I hear ya, I'm in Minnesota. I still think it's a better option than a sealant for winter protection. If everything goes OK, I plan on re-applying yearly whether is still has some protection left or not.

Oh.. and I used the glass and wheel coating also. Application is much the same although only up to a year durability.

I have painted/cleared wheels so I'm using this on there, assuming there's no difference.

Winter's sucks around here for lsp's. Last year was my first winter with detailing and I figured klasse aio and 2 coats of hgsg and it lasted from october to january. Once the salt hits it eats away at it.

I picked some up so if it lasts from october to spring I'll be happy with it.

As far as waxes go, I've had pretty decent results with Collinite 476 lasting thru the winter months. Doesn't get much better than that as far as waxes are concerned.

Will this coating eliminate water spotting from rain etc..?
Help with making the paint more scratch resistant?
 
I'm a die hard Blackfire fan. I do BFWD once or twice a year, and follow BFWD with crystal seal as needed and BFPS after most washes.

What I want to know is if Detailer's Paint Coating will provide a better base lasting longer and providing better release of contaminents than BFWD or Crystal seal would?

Simple answer is yes. According to what I've read from mike and Nick, this coating or any coating has much more durability than a sealant.

I've had mine on now for a month and in that time the slickness has diminished some, but it still beads water like it was done yesterday. The glass coating is showing the same.

By the way, I'm a Black fire fan as well, but I've never had BFWD last all the way from fall to spring thru those Minnesota winters.

I know you can clay opti coat. I haven't heard anyone mentioning being able to clay the dp coating. Anyone know?
 
thanks. DP Coating may be perfect for those areas which one doesn't want to or can't polish or work on anyways, such as the underbody cladding or bumper and heavily creviced areas.
 
Does the coating need a certain time to cure before it gets wet? Some vehicles I do, stay the night and get picked up the morning after? Not sure if dew or moisture will hurt the coating.
 
I applied 2 coats of DPPC in November and its holding up great, clean us via rinseless washes are sooo easy and the shine is awesome! Come spring I plan to do a Speedy prep towel wipe, apply the DP paint prep and then apply 2 more coats of DPPC and go from there. For the hell of it I might add a coat of Collinite #915 about 6 weeks later but still not sure, I usually apply various products to change up the look.

I couldn't be happier with DPPC!

Nailed it. This is the exact reason why I'm looking into coatings, as I have textured bumper covers and lower panels.

I'd love to hear from folks that have dealt with DP coating and Migliore. Which is the better of the two, in terms of endurance & look. Thank you in advance.
 
How long does the coating need to dry before getting wet from dew, moisture, or rain?
