About 3 months ago I polished my car and applied Detailer's Paint Coating. I used this particular coating because it lasts longer than a conventional wax or sealant, creates an extremely high gloss finish, and is exceptionally easy to apply.

Up Close & Personal: Detailer's Paint Coating

Nick@Autogeek said:
The Paint Coating Advantage

While a conventional car wax or paint sealant wears off after a couple months, Detailer’s Paint Coating forms a much stronger, harder bond that can withstand the elements to a much greater degree. Detailer’s Paint Coating is resistant to alkaline cleaners, degreasers and harsh detergents. Removing Detailer’s Paint Coating without physically abrading it is virtually impossible.

Detailer's Paint Coating can be maintained a new of ways - carnabua waxes, detail sprays, etc. I chose a simpler route - Permanon Platinum Finish Protection.

What is Permanon Platinum Finish Protection?

Permanon Platinum is a simple spray and rinse nano coating that creates a durable silicium shell that produces a brilliant shine and long-lasting protection on all hard surfaces. Surfaces protected with Permanon Platinum take on properties that are virtually identical to hardened glass; microscopic pores and pits in paint and other hard surfaces where dirt typically accumulates will be coated so your vehicle will be much easier to clean and maintain.

Permanon Platinum bonds on a nano-level so it acts to preserve the original surface being protected. Permanon Platinum is a highly effective water and dirt repellent that lasts while being resistant to nearly all acids, alkaline solutions and solvents, keeping your vehicle clean and protected through any circumstance.

Permanon Platinum Finish Protection will give your vehicle’s paintwork the highest gloss in the Permanon line. When used on hard interior surfaces, Permanon Platinum will impart a smooth, tactile feel. Permanon Platinum will provide the best protection possible for your vehicle’s interior and exterior surfaces.

When To Use Permanon Platinum Finish Protection

Permanon Platinum can be used two ways:

1. Stand alone LSP: Application of Permanon Platinum is as simple as spraying on and rinsing off, making it a great choice for those that don't have the time to apply conventional waxes, sealants, or coatings.

2. Booster for existing paint protection (ie: coating): While Permanon Platinum Finish Protection won't bond to waxes or sealants, it will bond to paint coatings, such as Detailer's Paint Coating, Optimum Opti-Coat, GTechniq C1, etc.

Sticker Shock

First, let me help ease the pain of sticker shock by telling you that Permanon Platinum is a highly concentrated solution.

To create a 32 ounce bottle of ready to use solution, you only need one ounce of Permanon Platinum. When applied correctly, a 32 ounce bottle of ready to use solution will coat two midsize vehicles. Do the math, and Permanon Platinum actually turns out to be a great value.

How To Use Permanon Platinum Finish Protection

  1. Thoroughly clean the surface(s) to be protected. Do NOT use any type of wash and wax product as this will interfere with the bonding of Permanon Platinum. To ensure the surface is free of any previously applied waxes and sealants, we recommend adding two ounces of Pinnacle Signature All Purpose Cleaner to your wash bucket.
  2. A 5% solution of Permanon Platinum is ideal for daily drivers. If you have an airplane or boat the first application should be undiluted.
  3. Pour 50 ml of Permanon Platinum into a 32 oz. spray bottle filled with water.
  4. Spray Permanon Platinum starting at the top of the vehicle and work your way down.
  5. Thoroughly rinse the vehicle with water and then dry it using a soft microfiber towel or blower, like the Metro Master Blaster.
  6. For interior surfaces, spray a 5% solution directly onto surface and lightly buff with a microfiber towel.

It Works!

Permanon Platinum, whether used as a stand alone LSP or as a booster to your existing paint coating, adds a substantial amount of gloss and slickness. As soon as you spray it on and rinse it off, you immediately notice extremely tight water beads. Permanon Platinum Finish Protection is the perfect complement to a high-quality paint coating, like Detailer's Paint Coating or Optimum Opti-Coat.

Sorry for the poor picture quality - they were taken with my iPhone. :)

Whether you're looking for a lazy way to wax your car, or if you're a gloss junkie that wants to further increase the gloss and slickness of your paint coating, Permanon Platinum Finish Protection serves its purpose exceptionally well.

Your Mazda looks incredible Nick! Nicely done and thanks for the review.

Thanks Mike.

How does this compare to Carpro's Hydr02?

I've actually used both, and I would have to say that Permanon Platinum is more forgiving in its application.

While similar products, they are formulated very differently. From what I've heard from a lot of reputable people, Hydro2 will have a slight edge in durability.

For my own personal vehicle, I will continue to use Permanon Platinum, because the ease of application is superb. Durability isn't much of a concern for two reasons:

1. The paint is already well protected with Detailer's Paint Coating.
2. Application of Permanon Platinum only takes a couple minutes; no rubbing or buffing is required. What more could you ask for in a paint care product?

Permanon is cheaper by far.

Just wondering, how does the Car Supershine compare to this?

Nick,

Did you spray the whole car first, then rinse? No rubbing necessary?

I too can attest to the ease of Permanon Platinum. I sprays on clear as water - no streaking. Its just like spraying water. You can rinse or wipe it off. But, you can't effectively wipe it on.

According to Permanon, Platinum is more concentrated than Car Supershine. It lasts longer, creates a higher gloss finish, and provides better UV protection. When used on hard interior surfaces, Platinum imparts more of a smooth, tactile feel.

Hi Mark,

I was working in direct sunlight, so I cut the vehicle in half. Even in these conditions, Platinum was very easy to work with and, as I said earlier, very forgiving as well.

No rubbing or buffing required with Permanon Platinum. :)

Thanks, Nick. I will be working in the shade, so I'll apply Permanon Matte to the whole car, then rinse. :dblthumb2:

Awman. I bought the cheap stuff (Car Supershine). Thought it would be better because it has "car" in the name.

Any thoughts on whether it will bond to EXo v2 or whether one should even bother applying it on top of EXO v2?

I've used it on my wife's car, and it looks great. I'm always trying to find ways to protect my car's paint since it is so thin to begin with. (I have C1 and EXOv2 on my car.)

I've been using Permanon on and off for a few years and still love it. The most cost efficient way to apply in in my experience is via spray gun. I have a dedicated paint gun that I have Permanon in ( I use a 10% solution ) and I find that I can use very little and still get a very even and very thorough application that way. I just recently topped my Lincoln, my wife's Durango and my mother-in-law's Sunfire and they still look and feel amazing.

Nick I have really been wanting to try this. But your right I got sticker shock, so I wanted to try it first. You sent me a sample but it was for Permanon Super-Matte Finish Protection. I am not sure exactly what is the best application and use of the matte. Also can you spray it on tires and wheel? Will it hurt the rotors? Thank you for the sample.

I also got the Matte sample and asked Nick the same thing in a pm and he never got back to me :(.

Supershine is still a great product.

Thanks for chiming in Richy. So far, every experience with Permanon as been a pleasant one.

I think you can use the Matte Finish on regular paint, just don't expect it to last as long as Platinum or to give off the same amount of gloss.

Questions are best posted on the forum, especially for a quick response. I do respond to every PM sent to me though, you just have to be patient. :props:

Nick, as always your the answer man ! I really appreciate the fact that you will respond to every email or PM. I know your very busy but your commitment to Customers is outstanding.

Thanks !

Still love this product ... one of the best as easiest boosters to use. The beading is immediately notable upon rinsing the area applied.
