UPGP VS. Opti-Seal

I too started with the foam pads but since I just squirted OS once or max twice on the foam pad, the pad began to resist moving over the paint after doing half the panel

And I always had to press it to get some product out and then try to spread it again

but even after that it used to streak on me! :( (straight line application from the start!)

Cant say I ever had that problem. The MF pad that come with it works just as well. Try applying like I said and see if you still get streaking.

Yes sir will do! :D

btw UPGP works great with a mf applicator it comes with or a generic foam applicator pad?

I too thought that Opti-seal streaks all the time until I used a mf applicator pad!!

With a mf applicator pad, there's no streaking at all!! :D
Its great cuz it saves my mf towels from wax/sealant residue which can be a pain to get off!
MF or Terry cloth covered pad works really well for me also. The one that comes with 12oz UPGP is very good.

I jave never had a streaking problem with UPGP which seems less oily and flashes faster. Hard to go wrong with either but, an edge to UPGP.

Are you guys saying UPGP "feels" slicker or it "looks" slicker than OptiSeal? I know in all the pic comparisons I cannot tell the difference and OptiSeal is significantly cheaper. So, I'm not sure that the way it "feels" is relevant to the protection. I know a sealant is never going to feel as slick as a wax, but we also know they are usually more durable despite that fact. I can also attest that Opti Coat doesn't feel "as slick" as other LSP products, but it is unsurpassed in durability and protective qualities, not to mention that in keeps contaminants from bonding. I would love to try some UPGP, but I'm doubtful that I will ever be willing to pay $40 for it. Free sample, anyone? Im the MAN

I've said it before...you guys need to stop touching your paint and rub on your ladies, LOL!

I will say that the DD that I put the Opti-Seal on has stayed pretty clean since I applied it 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind that I live in Ohio where the roads have been covered in snow and salt for the last 3 weeks. Even my bro in law commented the other night at how clean the car was. He was floored when I told him I haven't touched it in 2 weeks.

Optiseal isn't significantly cheaper though, is the thing. I know it was at once time, but the 12oz bottle of UPGP is 29.99 here at autogeek right now. Making UPGP cheaper than Optiseal per OZ. That's why I bought it :dblthumb2:

I do REALLY like Opti-Seal though and will still use it on some cars, but UPGP seems to leave more protection behind than Optiseal. Time will tell to be certain, as I just got it 2 days ago, but my results definitely seem to be leaning towards UPGP, and many others who have used both products seem to agree.

They are both great products.

I was not aware of that sale, that is a killer discount! I agree they are both great because soooo many people love them both. With the sale price, I'd say you can't go wrong with either.

The per application cost of either of these sealants is so small that cost should not influence your decision. I have UPGP and I am going to order Optiseal. I can do a half and half application by the end of next week and let you guys judge the results at Detailfest. The car will sit out in the Florida sun 24/7 and I pressure wash 2-3 times a week. Car is 2010 gold Prius.

My UPGP just came in from UPS yesterday so I'm going to do a comparison with Opti-seal on my car today. Hopefully I'll have it posted by tomorrow, I want to wait 24 hours so that the sealants have time to cross-link and cure, then I can truly compare the two.

Preliminary findings:
Shows Opti-seal being just barely easier to apply. Opti-seal seems to flash off faster for me and the spots where it was too thick are less noticeable than UPGP. UPGP is still easier than any wax I've used, even my beloved DP Max Wax doesn't hold a candle to UPGP in ease of use (but its close).

UPGP feels slicker after 2 hours of curing, than Opti-Seal does after multiple coats and 24 hours.

More to come.

so a few months later ... what were your findings on duarbility and overall appearance ... the only benefit in "slickness" as far as im concerned would be for washing but for me ONR does such a good job lifting dirt that its relatively MUTE for me...

LOL.

That would be "moot", not "MUTE".
