I'm sitting here watching the news and they just said UPS is raising shipping rates come the first of the year. They said customers are to expect a 4.9% increase. WWWOOOOWWW!!!!!

As if they were not high enough already.

I use USPS when I can because they are much cheaper.

That's gunna suck

I know right! I'm waiting to hear from Nick or Meghan to see what AG is gonna do. I'm sure this will cause people to hold off their order until they are ready for a $95 or more order.

Um...AG's shipping rates are a sliding scale based on the dollar amount of the order, which has really no relation to the UPS charge. If I order a case of 4 gallons of ARO (~35 lbs) I pay the same shipping as one syringe of Opti-Coat (<1lb) so you tell me if changing the UPS rate by a few percent is going to change the AG shipping rates.

I thought everyone's order were always above 95. :dblthumb2:

Sorry, I made a mistake in my example above. I would pay $14.99 in shipping for my Opti-Coat, and $17.99 for the ARO. However, it would cost AG (at the posted UPS rates, AG certainly gets a discount for their volume) only $12.15 to ship my Opti-Coat, but $38.79 to ship my ARO. Lest you think it's only that simple (har), there is the cost of packaging and the risk of shipping gallons of liquid, etc.

Hopefully this makes it clear that what we pay for shipping at AG is only loosely, if at all, tied to the actual UPS cost. My example, of course, is from FL to NJ, so the actual rates will be less if you are closer to AG, and more if you are further (based on the UPS zones).

If we were being charged by shipment weight, it would be a different story.

wow..for me in Chicago; shipping from Auto Geek would cost $20 (if i didn't get the free shipping)...now it will cost $21.00!! Thats the best deal anywhere, anytime. Think about it...it get many products shipped from FLORIDA to CHICAGO for $21.00 bucks!

thats one hell of a deal! anyone want to deliver it to me for less, just let me know!

Yeah, I remember a few years ago when gas was approaching $4.50/gal., and I needed some supply and I was thinking about driving up to get it, but I did the math and it made no sense to make a 2.5 hour round-trip and spend $10 in gas when I could have it UPS'd for $15.

failed to be mentioned here...UPS is dropping their fuel surcharge by 2% as well

I didn't even know they had a fuel surcharge. Yeah they didn't mention that on the news.
