Used Acetone, Lights Look Terrible

Well, it looks a decent amount better after buffing with both pads and both substances. I also buffed the opposite headlight, which was in much better shape anyway. Came out crystal clear. The other is just not going to get any better. I must have damaged the plastic using the acetone.

Have you looked closely if the haze is on the inside of the headlight?
It's often gets visible when you have done the sanding and polishing.

I would give it a try to sanding and compound and polish the one you used acetone on one more time. The plastic is thick. Then the oem coating could gone so damaged that you need to get it all off. You see it in the sanding residue. When you get a clearer residue.

Great that you got the other headlight clear and great looking.

It may be on the inside. Not sure. It’s my son’s car and he’s leaving tomorrow. I’ve done all I’m going to do this time around.

But I learned a lot here from all of you. It was the first time using my (or any) d.a. Never used one but I’ve watched many YouTube videos about how. Obviously, Harbor Freight makes cheap stuff, but I thought it worked well enough. I replaced the Velcro base and bought some decent pads.

Great to hear your experience. Nothing wrong with the HF machine. You can get great results with it.
