Hello there

Yesterday i applied a coat of Cquartz ceramic coating on my mothers car

The weather was about 25degrees
And i only waited about 5 minutes to remove the access of product
I should have waited 20 minutes but iam a first time user to any paint coating
So i did a mistake
Is it a big mistake
Will it affect the life of the coating?
How much will it effect it?

When it cures after 24 hours is it possible to put another coat ?
Or i can only put the second coat after1-3 hours from the first coat?

I have seen many videos before i apply the coating
But when it comes to the real thing it get confusing

So the bottom line
Whats done is done
What should i do know
Please dont tell i have polish the car again

Thanks

I dont have any experience with this product as of yet... but if everything has leveled correctly you can add another coat. I believe that 2 coats are recommended.

What temp? 25c or 25f?

It was 25 c

As a CQ users I hope I can help.

I would defiantly suggest adding a second layer to ensure coverage and max durability. You can add another layer no problem. But make sure the surface is clean again. I would suggest at least one wipe down with Eraser.

I would highly suggest following the directions though. If it says wait 20-30 minutes, do it... This will get you the best results. Wiping off the haze to early will possibly short then durability and like as the coating has not fully bonded to the surface.

Directions:
  • After polishing your vehicle use CarPro Eraser to wipe down the surface to ensure no oils are left from polishing
  • Wrap a mf Suede (included) around the applicator block (also included)
  • Shake CQuartz well and apply a few drops to the applicator
  • Wipe across a section of paint first left and right and then up and down
  • Ensure complete and even coverage but apply thin.
  • Move to next section applying a few more drops as needed and repeat
  • After 30 minutes select a 16" MF suede towel or MF terry weave towel and buff off the hazed excess (which there should be very little of)
  • When buffing hazed excess it should wipe off clean. If at all oily it is not ready to wipe off or else you are attempting to apply in the sun (which is not acceptable)

CarPro USA After Tips:
  • A second layer will add even further hardness & thickness to the coating
  • Vehicle can be parked in direct sun any time after removal of excess hazed product
  • Keep surface dry for at least one hour after application
  • Wipe any water off the surface during the first 24 hours after application
  • Avoid washing with any soaps for the first 7 days
  • Reload may be applied one hour (or longer) after CQuartz is buffed off and may be used to enhance gloss every few months without taking away from the lotus affect in the way that spray waxes would

Alright
Thank you very for the great help

I will put another coat tonight and will defenitly wait 20-30 minutes

Just one question
The car is a little dusty because yesterday was too much dust
But the first coat was done i made sure there were no dust on surface

Can i use waterless ? I have pinnacle waterless
Or should i only rinse the car with water?

And thank you very much for the fast reaponses

I would use water only. You are not to use any soap washing products for 7 days. This includes waterless washes as well.

But make sure the surface is also free of any oils! So I would highly suggest a pre-application wipe down with either IPA or Eraser. Eraser would be my choice as it is made to work with CQ.

The other option would be to wait a week - month and then do a good wash and Eraser wipe down and apply your second coat. CQ can be re-coated at any point in time from my understanding.

I have already used eraser in the first coat
So using eraser on the first coat will not affect the first coat?

If you let it cure for week first, no....

The more I think about it the more I would suggest letting the first coat cure for 7+ days before applying another layer.

Because CQ must be applied to a perfectly clean surface with no oils and such I think you must do a proper wipe down before your second layer.

The best person to ask is Corey (CeeDog). I would PM him and link him to this thread. He should have the best info for you. And I don't want to give you the wrong advice..

I had the exact same questions as c5errr, being in the same conditions as him.. i havent applied yet.. just have the same questions in mind..the problem of the car getting dusty in between applications
c5errr, if you have already contacted Corey, can you please post his reply here.. thanks alot!

No problem at all,
just clean the surface from dust and recoat
you have plenty of sunshine there, 48 hours sun bath is enough for good drying.
if you have the Reload use it against the dusty climate you have there , it will help reducing it over the paint.

Alright
Thanks everyone for the great replys
I think i will do the second coat this weekend and reload also on the way to me

guys..i was following this thread to get the answers...just to be sure.. so first coat.. and let it cure for 7+ days and then use reload to remove dust and then apply the second coat?

no,
do the coat, you live in very hot weather as well, wait 24 hours. clean with eraser and apply second coat
Reload is a sealant , not cleaner :-)

:thankyousign: Avi! Ok so done with my research.. now on to Autogeek to confirm my cart with Carpro kit in it!!

Okay
Just one question
Since i consumed all the suede towels at my first coat
What can i use as a substitute for suede towels
