Yes, the machine does jiggle, and move, but I don't know what "bit" you're talking about, sorry. Maybe another angle will prove better..

Hi 6LS2, i'm in the UK and we have a 220v mains supply so you have to use a step down transformer to 110v which you should be able to get from any tool shop. If you've already run at 220v then you may of just overheated the motor or worse case the motor has burnt out. Try it with the transformer and if that doesn't work speak very nicely to Porter and see about a new motor.
As for the top bit this is just a cover for the spindle housing so you will get vibration from it.

Good luck mate

Hey guys - a little empathy to 6LS2. Haven't we ALL at one time or another made a mistake in our haste and become frustrated and angry at the situation. Hope it works out for you

I would try contacting porter cable and telling them what happened with your unit. There is a link on their website to email them. www.portercable.com Good luck to you.

While you obviously bear the brunt of the responsibility for not knowing the difference between power wattage, I suspect that PC will do their best to replace if for you directly. You might need to pay some shipping, but you gotta take that as responsibility for error on your part. That doesnt mean I dont feel bad for you and this predictament.

If I walked into a store in Austrilia and bought a buffer or power tool, it really is my personal responsibility to know if its compatible with my current or power system. I seriously doubt some would even know different power setups are used in different areas of the world. I found out when wife bought a hairdryer and it came with 5 different adapters.

OK one thing, guys lets watch the lanuage on here, PLEASE!

I used my PC on my sisters car today for about half an hour, just did some of her hood, and while I was doing it it was making this weird crackling sound, and it smelt like something was burning. I stopped, and a couple of hours later, I packed everything up. I plugged the PC in, switched the power on, it worked for a second and made loud crackling sounds, then it switched off. My PC doesn't turn on, I'VE USED IT ONCE AND ITS F----- ALREADY!!!

And the worst thing is I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA. GRRRRRRRRRR. What the f--- am I suppose to do now.
Sorry to hear this happen to you..Contacting mehgan or Jason would have given you the answers you need..placing your frustration on the boards will only get you feedback with no difinative answer..at least your able to vent a bit before sending off that Email ;)

Wouldn't this vendor have been a better resource..the link is on AG Home page on the lower bottom..I hope your situation can be resolved..

Make sure that that converter can handle 3.7 AMPs, otherwise you will be wasting your time.
What you basically want to get is an adapter, that will conver voltage form 220 volts to 110 volts, and yes again, it needs to handle 3.7 AMPs (I would even get one that can handle at lest 4.0-4.5 AMPs)

Good luck.

Ragarding your unstable piece on the PC, yes it is very common. The shaking is worse when the handle is off.

Anyway i hope PC will make an European/Austrailian 7424 in the future.

I Use mine with a step down power converter Just buy a GOOD one), and it works fine. If you got it from your brother, its not so easy to know about the dif in power regarding US and Austrailia. But after you have tryed to use it with i higher power output, your motor is probably broken, and have to be replaced.

Hope you get i sorted, its a great tool for detailing.

Did the half of your sisters roof get anny good?:)

Good luck

This is obviously a very unfortunate situation and I feel for you here. I'm not trying to fan the flames but am just curious what your expectation is here. Chances are pretty good that you've smoked this machine. That said, do you believe it is AutoGeek's responsibility to eat this PC? Whose responsibility is it to see that a machine is used in the manner described by the manufacturer and are consumers responsible to read and understand all directions prior to operation? I would think that even when one uses a step down transformer the warranty might be invalid. I would be interested in hearing other opinions on this situation.

You also may wish to read some of the information regarding step down transformers over on DetailingWorld. It's a site out of the United Kingdom. They have had a number of people who have had problems using a step down transformer that isn't rated for the job at hand.

just a question, the bit I've got the arrow pointed to, on all of your PC's, is that bit really unstable? because I notcied as soon as I took the pc out of the box that was shaking badly.

Hi and welcome, even though you joined under bad circumstance your still welcome here bro.

How when you posted the above picture I ran to the garage got my PC and tried it and yes, mine does it too. It's the plastic peace, I took off the handle and it rattles even more so at least I think it's supposed to do that.

Just my $.02 (that is supposed to mean my opinion) I got into the habit of re-searching and reading all instructions prior to using. When ever I purchase something or receive something as a gift I always read the instructions first and the use the product/unit. My wife hates this because she finds it to slow but better safe then sorry.

As for the frustration, I feel for you buddy. It's only human to react so don't worry just learn from it that's all.

I do hope that you get it exchanged or fixed...but remember what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger and wiser.

Let us know how it works out. The PC is a wonderfull tool, just got to know how to use it...I'm new at this and it's first time using it and I'm just going nice and slow with it.

thanks man, I hope I can get it replaced, I really wanted to start detailing over these holidays, and if I had to buy a new PC again it would take me a while to save up $300 :(

I already knew:p

On another note...you can "dampen" the rattling of the plastic piece by taking a tiny piece of the lid of the cardboard box AG just sent you and wedge it under the outside rim of it. Do this ONLY on the outside rim, not completely under the plastic shroud, just enough to take the rattle out of the picture without messing with the ventilation or cooling.
