Used too little CquartZ Opinions Needed

The topper would be reload for cQuartz I am sure hydro2 would work fine too.

I have had very good luck using this application method.

I bought several small, very soft sponges. I wrap them in really thin plastic wrap then wrap them with the CarPro suede clothes. This keeps the product from soaking into the sponge and being wasted. Then i throw away the suede cloth. And throw away the plastic wrap too. I have never tried to re-use the cloth.

I've got a suggestion for you: Instead of throwing the small suede mf's out, immediately shoot them with APC and throw them into your leftover wash water bucket mix. Clean them afterward with your regular mf's. They are great used a 2nd time for DLux, which does destroy them.

That's what I've seen but kind of weary of the streaking issues people
Seem to have.

I've seen some others but their not sold here so not going to ask about them lol.

I bought some reset and it seemed to do a pretty good job cleaning the paint, used two PFM towels and am shocked at how good they worked compared to normal WW towels or the guzzler HD.

Anyways I noticed water spots on my hood and trunk, Mayb roof too forgot to check. I saw CarPro has the water spot remover, any reccomendations for it? Or an alternative? I'm thinking it's from the rain the car doesn't get parked near sprinklers, that or the well water I use.

Not sure if this has been mentioned by anyone else in this thread, but after a CQuartz Application, you shouldn't be wetting the vehicle until at least 7 days have passed.

This is one of the reasons it is recommended that Carpro Reload be used after Coating is applied, that it protects the Coating until full curing, and the minimum time after Coating application to then applying Reload is said to be an hour, no less.

Cars been coated for a few weeks now maybe longer. And wasn't washed for the first week per the instructions ..

Can i do the reload cover and then move to hydo2 moving forward? I like Hydro application process way better

You can always do another coat of Cquartz! I recommend going over with eraser again (which won't erase Cquartz so don't worry) and reapply. I just cquartzed my M3 and I used as much Cquartz as possible until further application became difficult. I used half of a 50ml bottle. I reapplied every panel twice. Of course application would've been easier if I waited a day or two for it to cure then go over it again but I didn't want to. I used 3 suede towels.

I also used essence with great success (after a few tries until I get the hang of it). I highly recommend that. Don't use an AIO before a coating! V38 with a polishing pad also sounds a little weak in my opinion. V38 has pretty much zero cut as is.

Yeah there were only a few spots it didn't touch the car is pretty new and I've been the only owner. But next time I'll use the 36 I have with orange pad probably..

But anyways these damn water spots are back...I figured with a coating that the car would be less susceptible to spotting, I could see if I parked near a sprinkler constantly but I don't ever. The car does seem to stay a lot cleaner after the coating but I think I'm going to try a different coating next time around...

Looking for a coating safe water spot remover, I see that CarPro makes it as well as Gyeon..any other thoughts? I'd have to go over the whole car pretty much.

That's another thing I should've added the lighting was kind of poor and I had a few LED flashlights but they weren't much help. Haven't tested properties yet, it'll be 24 hours in a few hours.

Another question, since re-coating seems to be a possibility does anyone know if those suede towels or something similar can be sourced locally?

Thats how much was used....

It looks like you used about how much CQuartz I usually use for one coat on a mid to full-sized sedan. No need to worry about adequate coverage if you applied it per the directions.

Won't make that mistake again, it wasn't dark and there we're a few overhead lights just not ideal for detailing, had to make do with what I had. I'll have to look into the light stand, LEDs for that as well correct ?
I did go over the paint with the flashlight but we'll see when I pull it out today.

The absolute BEST natural lighting possible for applying a coating is at sunset. For indoors, turn out any overhead lights and point all of your shop lights and LEDs at the wall and up towards the ceiling. This will create 100% indirect light that will highlight any high-spots from the coating process.

Interesting might have to try that next time around.

Still looking for reccomendations for a topper..

CarPro Reload is an awesome product. There really should be no streaking issues if you apply it correctly and don't try to use it in direct sun or below 60f. You have to think of it more like a watered down ceramic coating vs a spray wax or sealant. Respect the application process by controlling your environment and you'll be good to go. Otherwise, if just wanting a super quick and easy way to top up the hydrophobic properties, I like to add a HydroFoam Wash every now and then. I don't like using Hydro2 on coated vehicles because the coating causes the product to bead up too much so I don't think it gives 100% uniform coverage. It's hard to tell though because the coating is so hydrophobic to begin with...

Yes, you can absolutely do this. In fact, you can switch back and forth between using Hydro2 and Reload as a booster with no negative effects to the underlying coating.

10 Month Update:

Figured I'd update this thread. Ended up leaving the coating as is with the one coat. Since then it's been washed pretty regularly (usually weekly or bi weekly, rinseless or 2 BM). And about once a month during the winter, had a few warm days.

Have topped the car with various products, Hydro2 Lite, Sonax BSD (one of my favorites) GTEchnic C2v3, Ultimate Paint Guard + mayb even a wax on a panel or two.

Car was last topped with BSD and c2v3 back on Feb 23 was a nice 50° day.

Today I got up early since it was going to be in the 70s. Rinsed the car and sprayed some ironX, didn't go too heavy was going to follow up with SnowFoam, didn't see much reaction a few spots on the hood. Proceeded to rinse and follow up with SnowFoamAnd rinsed.

Here's a few pics post Snow Foam.

The beading is still pretty tight, topped is about 6 weeks old and after the Iron X and Snowfoam not sure if any would be left??

I then did a 2 BM with CarPro reset, I like the soap a lot, not really sudsy but reactivates well and smells good (grape?)

Post beads:

I noticed on the lower panels of the sides the beading is almost non-existent everywhere else is solid tho.

Blow dried.

Then. proceeded to use Gyeon water spot remover after blow drying the car.

I then topped the car with Hydro 2 lite, probably my favorite as its so easy to use. Blew most of the car off and followed up with griots PFM.

Did the wheels and tires the following day. Coated the wheels a week ago with McKees 37, will post a review on that. Just presoaked with Uber rinseless and wiped off, came clean easily.

Tires had been cleaned last week so I just used VRT on the tires, one coat.

So are we to celebrate the Cquartz or the myriad of toppings you out on?

Not sure if sarcasm or not, just figured I'd post an update. I'm sure the toppers have had a positive effect on the longevity of the coating...not sure why the pics look so bad, uploaded from my iPhone.
