This could be the culprit.
Are you not using a soap to strip previous products before applying the 845?

meguiars says deep crystal doesn't strip wax.
I've occasionally used Dawn before waxing, but mostly I just use a claybar.
Tomorrow I'm going to clay and do 2 superthin layers of 845 on the roof.
I really want to get the 4-6 months everyone else is getting.
In the recent past, when I waxed 845 every month (without claying), I assumed I was building up the wax so that it would bead water for a longer period of time. But I wasn't seeing that.

OK your confusing me.
If you are applying 845 you WANT to strip all previous waxes first. Meaning you would use Dawn soap. (even after washing with Dawn some people then clean the car again with a pre wax cleaner... then clay bar, etc)
As with anything. It's all in the prep. Don't skip or rush through these stages. (it may take me 3-6 hours to wash, clay, polish, and wax a car)
Then once you apply the 845 and the car is done. Moving forward you would wash with the meguiars deep crystal so you aren't stripping the 845. (and add layers of 845 if you so desire)

ok today I clayed and used more 845 than I usually do. did 2 coats on the roof.
2 months ago, I 845'd around the gas tank cover, and it still beaded water today, whereas the roof and trunk were completely flat and a sheet of water just stuck to the paint.
So that leads me to believe the sun killed the wax on the top surfaces.
I'll wait and see how the roof does in my next wash a month from now.

What kind of paint condition are we talking about?
Is the car new or 10 years old?

Dawn and/or clay will not remove the previous layers of grime and old LSP. The only way to get all that off and get a truly clear surface will be to hit it with a mild polish.
If there are ingredients in the car wash which enhance water sheeting or gloss, that could be interfering with the wax. It's hard to say, as I've always done a paint cleaning step between the wash/clay and LSP.
Another thought. What does the 845 look like as you apply it? The product separates very easily and I've found you need to shake it pretty vigorously to get it well mixed; even after warming it up properly.
Something is amiss here. 845 Easily lasts me 5~6 months in some of the worst environmental conditions.

I get 6 months in a hot environment (Arizona). Garaged at night, but outside all day at work
