You weren't there during Charley were you? I went to Punta Gorda to help set up the Sweetbay store there for grand opening right after Charley.

YEP! sweetbay is only a mile away from my house in Punta Gorda. We bunkered down at my house for the storm, I was only a Jr. in high school back then. that was a hell of a storm and every panel on my maxima had to be replaced .

thats crazy that you actually know about Punta Gorda, though.

Man, that was like a bomb went off there. I actually worked there for a couple of weeks. Hope you didn't live in the trailer park right behind/near the store-----leveled! How do you like the store? Just curious. You could see my handy work on the right hand side of the store as you walk in;)

ahhhh, Spring Break, I remember those days:(. I'm getting old:D

Just wait until Spring Break means a week off but in a different way. You get to stay home with your kids because you can't find someone to watch them for a week;) A weeks worth of video games......woohoo!

Yes, the year of storms playing tic tac toe across FL lol. I was out surfing lol, not sure I'd do that again as the rip current was unbelievable. Hopefully this season is like last years, *knocks on wood*. I still remember when I was younger and after Hurricane Andrew we drove to check on one of the families businesses (Insurance, the irony lol) which was fine and then onto the Key's to check a house we had in Key Largo (which suprisingly didn't get any damage even though it was on the waterway and backyard lead to ocean, we honestly though it would have been flooded). But It looked like a Nuclear Bomb went off in Dade County, everything south and north was bad, but there was a path literally cut through Dade that looked like big ass steam roller came through.

Well, long story short, I walked out to my car Saturday night/ Sunday morning (around 2 am), which was in my girlfriend's driveway. Approaching the car, I noticed a "For Sale" sign on my windshield, no witting or anything. Looking closer, I also found a grapefruit which had been smeared all over the windshield. I further examined the paint, praying no body damage. To my luck, the only other thing I found at that time was the other half of the grapefruit, squashed onto one of my tailpipes. With a quick reaction, I simply through the crap to the side and drove off, it was 2am and there was no damage.

Next morning, Sunday morning, I have a missed call from my girlfriend's dad. I called him back and he told me to go check my tires, he found about 15 nails in the driveway. I ran out, and of course, there were over 19 nails spread between the 4 tires. Each tire had at least 1 int he side wall and no less than 3 per tire. Me, my girlfriend, and her mom all did some calling and the word got out that we were looking for the suspect. I called the cops and at the very last second before committing to pressing charges, we got a call from the kid's mom who did it, saying that her son did and not to get the cops involved, she would pay for all damages.

Lucky for me, my tire guy was able to pull through for me and got my tires (BFGoodrich G-Force Sports) shipped in by 11am this morning, got them on, and had me off on my way back to Boca Raton, across the state from where everything went down.

The ironic thing about this situation, is that I have no idea who these two kids are, they don't even ring a bell and once I looked up their pictures, I realized I didn't know them from anywhere. I really hate immature and stupid people, kids, can really be. I know I am only 19, but what did this prove? That there parents can pay for their stupidity. It took a lot for me to keep my cool on this one...

Sorry guys, no pictures..

i would have pressed charges. momy wouldnt be able to save them for me, they need to learn not to do #### like that. now he will just do it again to someone who doesnt know him.

does anyone know about the "waiver of prosecution"? did i for sure, waive all prosecution rights for the incident, or can I press charges with the gathering of more information?

I'm so sorry about your car, but glad that your paint wasn't keyed up or worse. That sucks that kids walk around doing crazy stuff like that. I always say that kids like that should go visit a third world country and see how life is outside of the US. It really puts things in perspective and hopefully makes them grateful for all that they have and teaches to stop doing that stupid crap because they are bored!

Screw them press charges they are just going to do it again... Teach them a leason

He does have a point there!

sorry to hear about your luck.

How do you like those BFG G-sports? I've looked into them a few times for they make a nice tire for us younger folks who cant afford the Mich PS2's of the world.

Sounds like you still have a dialog with mommy. I'd tell her that if anything happens to you or your family (GF's too) again they run out of options.

After speaking with a few people, I am seriously considering this avenue. However, I signed a "Waiver of Prosecution". Does this mean I decided not to prosecute at that point or at all? If I gather further information that involves more people with evidence, can I still press charges?

Waiver.
You've waived your rights on that if you signed. No taking it back. Just be glad moom is taking care of those tires. how old was the little creep anyway? I had this like 11 year old brat pictured...
????

You should have signed the waiver as she gave you the CASH for the total.

Just curious but how old were these punks? 18+ = legal age for an ass kicking, hmmm...need a vacation right now...Punta Gorda seems like a place to visit at the moment:D

And yes, if you signed the waiver nothing you can do, it's a legally binding document.

Sucks that you signed the waiver. I guess she knew what she was doing. When my mom got into a little fender bender, my dad got the guy to SIGN a document saying it was his fault and he ran the red light... some people don't really know what to do when they get in an accident.

I remember when my car (2000 white TL) got vandalized (eggs, permanet marker) about three years ago. Man, I was so mad...

Did you sign a waiver for her or did the police hand u a form that you signed. If the police did it, the only one who can answer that is the State Attorney's Office since they are the ones who prosecute the cases. I also hope that check doesnt bounce or a stop payment. In the future NEVER,NEVER,NEVER sign a waiver for anything. Ifthe police are involved tell them you arent sure or ask for a referal. Hope everything works out in the end.

The waiver I signed was for the Police, but I cant help but to think that it just releases the police officer from the scene, that I am not prosecuting at that time, like it give the officer the rigth to leave without me saying, Hey, I wanted to press charges. Nonetheless, we will find out soon enough if I am still able to.

For the record, the one kid was 18 and the other 16.

Surfer, we'll chat about a road trip after I get this check in the next couple days.

I have alos been getting information, including video tapes and purchase records, that will show if other were involved. If this is that case and I have proof on video, I wonder if it's possible to void the waiver, or whatever term should be used, I don't have much law experience.

so basicly she just paid for the tires? what about all the time you have getting new tires and the time it took to clean your vehicle and the time of all your inconvienance? did she pay for that? if it were me i'd tell mommy i want compensation for my time and make it sting a little. this way mommy will think twice the next time jr gets stupid. me personally the cops would have been called so there's a record of jr. being stupid. has he done it before?
