Recently we have had the honor of polishing a very special aircraft, a Boeing VC-137B, Special Air Mission 971 or SAM971, formally of the American presidential aircraft fleet. It had been used a handful of times to as "Air Force One" to transport President Eisenhower and President Kennedy in the late 50s and early 60s. It was also used as "Air Force Two" and carried many upper government officials and dignitaries from around the world. Here it is wearing it's early "day glow" orange and white color scheme.

Most importantly it used the call sign "FREEDOM ONE" twice. Once when it brought American hostages that were taken in Iran in 1979 and again 10 years later when it brought American POWs home from desert storm.

She had been sitting out in the desert in Tucson since the mid 90s. The sun took a toll on her finish. We found her badly faded.

Our dream was to clean her, polish her and bring her back to her former glory. With the help of AUTOGEEK, Meguiars and clients of mine, Kellie and Gary Johnson of ACE Clearwater Enterprises in Torrance, California, we did just that!!

Larry Kosilla of AMMO came out and documented our journey of taking the old badly faded paint and bare aluminum to a brilliant will protected shine!

I'll post photos soon. Enjoy the video - Detailing FREEDOM ONE - /DRIVE CLEAN - YouTube

Awe-inspiring, Joe, to say the least! Well done and thank you all.

Joe great job, glad we were able to help out! Keep up the good work!

Meghan you guys made it possible to turn a dream into reality. I know I speak for all the guys on the team when I say we could never thank Autogeek enough for this opportunity. thank you.

I've already talked with my buddy Paul about this. Geez that thing is big.

I would love the opportunity to put my name on some work like that.

This is something I've been thinking about since joining this forum and meeting Paul and Mike Phillips.

Awesome work gang!!! That is something to be proud of.

I would like to personally thank Megan and the gang at AutoGeek for their sponsorship and generous donations to the members of the Freedom One Detailing Crew. Without sponsorship such as yours this project would never have happened. It was a honor to work on this project with the detailers that came from all over the U.S. and Canada.

Fantastic job guys. What an opportunity to work on a piece of history.

I am having troubles up loading more pics. I'll try again tomorrow when I'm not as tired.

Awesome work by an awesome crew of top notch detailers! There are too many good things to say about this project and the crew that worked on it...... so I'll just say...... AMAZING - Can't wait to see how you top this one! :buffing::buffing::buffing::buffing::buffing:

Hooyah Joe! Great to see another history project from you and your crew. Well Done!

Later,
Lee
