The owner of this car contacted me through my Facebook Page and was interested in cleaning up this gorgeous red G8. This car is driven most of the year, but gets put away for bad weather and in the winter. It is a lower mileage vehicle, with the odometer reading under 30k, and needed a bit of work to restore some lost gloss and depth in the bright red paint.

The majority of the defects were typical swirls that I would assume had been introduced during washing and drying. They were fine scratches, but they covered every square inch of the paint which created a duller appearance. This vehicle is also used to haul the owner's kids to and from various sporting events, so it showed some signs of abuse that comes with carrying passengers and equipment on a regular basis.

This is just a very brief look at what was done to this car. The rest of the photos will be featured in a full length article on the Detailed Image Ask-A-Pro Blog in the near future.

Before

Wheels were in pretty good shape. Typical brake dust buildup, and the barrels needed a good cleaning.

Hard water spots all over.

During

Tar spots were safely removed with tarminator. You can see the tar deposits dissolving as they react with the tar remover. They are then easily wiped away.

After the car was washed and decontaminated, the true condition of the paint was revealed. A very swirled finish that left the paint looking dull.

Clarity and depth were restored with a one-stage polishing process that removed the majority of lighter swirls and defects.

Fender before correction - notice how dull the reflections are.

Fender after correction. Notice how clear and vivid the reflection is after polishing. What a great transformation!

As usual... Had to snap a pic of my car looking good outside while I'm working (my car was recently washed, decontaminated with IronX and then topped with CarPro ReLoad).

After

Paint was incredibly smooth and glossy. Looked fantastic! Stay tuned for the complete write up that will be published on the Detailed Image Ask-A-Pro Blog in the near future!

great work as usual!

noob question, i see you use different products alot. do you like to try out different things or does each job call for a different polish, compound etc?

again great work

^Honestly... I just have a serious problem when it comes to buying new detailing products haha. While I truly believe it is best to be well prepared for every situation, I have way more than what it takes to be "properly prepared". With that in mind, I have bought everything for different reasons, but it definitely isn't necessary. As I work on more and more cars, I do find that certain products excel in various situations compared to other similar products. The bare minimum I would keep on my shelf for paint correction would be Meguiar's M105/D300/M205 & Menzerna FG400/PF2500/FF4500... but I just really like trying other products as well and will continue to purchase things that catch my interest :xyxthumbs:

Beautiful work. Looks better than when it came out of the showroom.

I've had nothing but great results from them. If you're down here and have time, I'll let you play with them and see what you think.
I definitely need to find some time to touch base with you when I'm back in town... I'd love to see some of what you're working on. You get to touch some truly amazing vehicles based on your IG pics that I drool over! Hopefully I'll be able to get back in the springtime without a full weekend of family events and what not that are sure to take up all of my time over the next few months during the holidays.

Beautiful work. Looks better than when it came out of the showroom.

Awesome work for sure, that red is GLOWING.

On a side note, your car still looks perfect.

It looks great Zach!

Great work as always!:dblthumb2: Would you line up the Hyper Polish with FG400?

Very nice work!! Looks great. Just curious about the clear on the G8's. Would you say it is hard or soft?

Great work as always!
Thanks!

Ha, thanks! My car is by no means "perfect", but the gloss is still insane. There are some RIDS and light marring on it, but for a car that is driven every day, I'm not complaining! :props:

Like always, your work is awesome:)
Thank you!

It looks great Zach!

Thanks Richy!

Great work as always!:dblthumb2: Would you line up the Hyper Polish with FG400?
Thanks and No, FG400 is a heavy cutting compound (ie cut 10/10 according to Autopia Polish Comparison Chart). Optimum HP is a medium polish (ie cut 5/10 according to Autopia Polish Comparison Chart).

nice man!
:dblthumb2:

Fantastic work Zach!

BTW, the "is" needs some wheels....
^Couldn't agree more! I'm hoping to get some wheels next spring or summer when my current tires need to be replaced. Any suggestions? I've got many ideas, but I am very indecisive when it comes to wheels... I like concave style wheels, specifically like Linea Corse 818 (you're probably familiar with them because they are popular with BMWs too) and Ground Force GF07 (<- new product line from MRR wheels).. I also like the classic BBS LM and Work VS-XX. Just so many great options!

Very nice work!! Looks great. Just curious about the clear on the G8's. Would you say it is hard or soft?
Thanks! Of the 2 G8's I have corrected, I would say their clear is very average in terms of hardness... it is definitely not soft like an Acura, and it is not hard like a Corvette. I have done a red (this one) and white. Both were one-stage corrections and both were done with orange pads and a medium polish (iirc).

Great job! That's the way red is supposed to look.
