Just curious, at the 1 minute mark did the guy say that they wipe the paint down with lacquer thinner?

Yes, but to be fair, it shouldn't harm a factory clear coat. It's not paint stripper.

Still far from the best method though.

JMP's wife, just watched the video. I don't know a thing about detailing... I was just cringing. Enough said!

The look on my gf's face was priceless!

one main concern with these guys (let's face it, everything is a concern!) is spraying the interior down and washing it, there's a good chance there are some areas that may not completely dry and mold will eventually surface...

the thing is i bet these guys stay really busy and make a good amount of money even though they are hacks which is really sad...

Having dealt with this dealership (many years ago) for mechanical issues on a NEW car (purchased from 'them'), seeing this comes as no surprise!

Nuff said...

Wait a minute,

Is the passenger window open when he's squirting the engine degreaser everywhere?

Normally that might be a problem, but not with the amount of liquid they used when they went at the interior with the extractor. The new owners must have a wet butt when they drive it off the lot.

at 1:07 he mentions they "wax it once or twice, depending on the paint." As in, "If we didn't do enough damage the first time, we'll go over it again to get the job done."

Did... Did he say laqueur thinner? I cringed the whole video. And this is probably one of their $500 jobs.

Alright guys...this thread has gone on long enough. It's in no way, shape, or form contributing to AGO in a positive way.
