Viking Microfiber Mitts?

It's NOT about how soft the mitt feels by itself before the wash.

It is how the mitt "feels" to your paint after it has washed several sections with only a quick rub on the Grit Guard.

No decent wash mitt, by itself, used properly should scratch paint

Next wash try this:

-Wash a section
-Rub on GG in rinse bucket
-Wring out on the ground
-Dunk back in rinse bucket
-Wring out into a separate, EMPTY bucket

If your mitt leaves any particulate in the bottom of the empty bucket....this means you are not getting good dirt release from you mitt and may want to try other mitt options.

Try the test suggested in post #21 with the grout sponge.

I am interested to hear/see the results.
 
Megs microfiber mitts are different. The microfiber itself is NOTHING like what we're used to when towels.

We choose microfiber towels because of their ability to grab AND HOLD. They do not easily release dirt or debris they pick-up from the surface of the paint.

This characteristic is great, IF the product will contact the surface once and then be washed prior to being used again.

IMO, a microfiber wash mitt that is repeatedly applied to the paint with only a quick rinsing seems counter to the properties of the material.

There is a video of the guys from Megs doing a rinseless wash with D114 and their microfiber mitt. They discuss how the MF in their mitt is different and designed specifically to release dirt.

I favor using two of the Merino Wash Mitts with a 2BM or modified rinseless. This makes more sense to me on a basic level.

Thanks for the advice, I'm planning on washing after each detail. I never have in the past and I'm thnking that is why after a couple years I'm seeing scratches, some deep :(

I bought 2 of the Viking and 2 of the Megs mitts. One each for top and 1 each for bottom of cars. I also only use 1 set for my show car and then the other set for our daily drivers. I'll post up a review when I get to use them this weekend.

I agree with your post though that anything soft will not scratch, that is common sense, it is when crap gets in there which worries me. I'm becomming pretty OCD about all this now, thanks a lot AG community :D

The reviews on the Megs were outstanding which is why I was considering them, I think they have almost a full 5 star rating on Amazon with like almost 300 reviews, that is pretty good. The problem with Amazon though is that most of the reviewers based on their comments don't seem to be true car enthusiasts like on AG. And it looks like AG doesn't sell the Meguiars mitt so I can't find any reviews on here.

i have some viking plush microfiber towels (made in korea) from years ago that are still going strong and they are every bit as good as any other. viking (like any any other brand) has some good products, you just have to weed out which are the good from the bad...

The green Viking towels were also nice.
