Good Evening to All,

I'm considering the purchase of a 2010 VW Jetta TDI and i was wondering your thoughts on the paint, as well as the rest of the car.

Well, I can't say I've worked on a '10 VW, but I have driven an '09 Jetta TDI. If the darn thing was bigger, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I couldn't believe the power from the 2.0L with the 6 speed manual. And the fuel mileage is crazy! At 55mph, I was getting 52 mpg. At 65 it was at 45mpg. Hard to beat that AND the legendary status of the VW diesels.

I worked on an '01 Beetle and the paint was easy to work with. I got fantastic results using just Meguiar's M80 and the old G100 (original PC7424). Not sure about the 2010's, though.

What color are you looking at? Auto or manual?

Colin

Wife has a 2010 TDI wagon. Love it!! VW paint is pretty hard, so expect any polishing to take a good while. :). We are still breaking ours in but we are up to 35MPG.

I did my friends 2006 GTI, black, and it was easy to work with. Fast as hell and great car all around!

Crystal White or Salsa Red, although I'm leaning towards the white. Likely to get the auto just so that my wife to be is able to drive it.

I bought my wife a Jetta about 8 months ago, It has a very, very hard clear coat...expect to work on it for awhile...get comfortable...lol.......But, I have to say, I love the paint job on it after I have done a full paint correction and detail on it....

It is on the harder side. I think the newest white is called campenella (sp). But yeah candy white is the more popular code.

I have the VW Golf 2010, TDI jet back, bath every week. Still breaking it in but love not hitting the fuel station every week :) Paint seems hard I got it in March hence this is why I'm here to learn how to take care of it.
LOVE the CAR, quick and just goes. Good Luck.

Sounds like VW's clear has gotten harder over the years.

On a side note, I wish VW still made the Passat TDI.
