Still having trouble with my WW towel not absorbing, even after I soak them and wring them out. Would it be safe to wash them in sanitary cycle and then air dry?

Have you tried soaking them in some APC mixture?

wash them but ad vinegar to the rinse. this opens the fibers up. I wash my towels 3 times every time plus vinegar and I've never had a problem with any of my towels not absorbing, except those crappy Costco towels.
