Yep, this is what happens when people do! And this is what keeps guys like us in business! This was all done with a PC7424XP using Black, Yellow and Green "EDGE" double-sided pads. The products were given to me by a friend but I won't mention them because they're a competitor of AG.

I outta find a picture of my brothers RSX.. washed that thing with a scotchbrite.. he has no clear left, pretty much a single stage paint now lol.

Nice job removing those scratches. It never ceases to amaze me how some people treat their cars.

While I look at this and shake my head, something else also came to mind; these same people vote!

LOL, my uncle did that to his brand new light blue Ford after driving it on a freshly oiled gravel road. He did most all of the front fenders and hood before he realized the paint was now a nice matt finish. Fortunately it buffed back to a decent gloss. Luckily it was a light color or I suspect there would be some deeper damage still visible.

Fortunately he never voted. :)

I remember seeing another thread of someone doing something similar....maybe they're related!! :dunno:

I actually watched the guy do it. My friend and I were working on building my new detailing trailer when I noticed what he was doing. I saw him drop the Brillo pad onto the ground a few times but still pick it up and continue to use it without even rinsing it off.

I knew exactly what the end result would be...so after about 20 minutes I head his wife screaming and cursing at him, and took that as my cue to step in and offer to help.... :buffing:

Only by mistakes can common sense be learned, that was a costly lesson.
You're a good person to intervene and offer your help.

The best one was that guy who saw his neighbor spraying WD-40 onto a push broom and scrubbing the car, lol.

bhhahah you guys are something man, AG forum makes my day foreal

I corrected a black 3 series yesterday that looked like it was washed with a brillo pad as well.

Tonight or TM night I will have the thread put together.

Great save.

Maybe he thought he had a Delorean ;o). Brillo pad is probably too mild for that. I saw a guy correct a Delorean finish on the show Wheeler-Dealers and it looks like quite an art to get the stainless steel back to factory-fresh.

On a related note, I don't ever recall seeing a thread on correcting an offroad vehicle with "desert pin stripes" (zillions of scratches on the sides and hood from scraping thorny tree branches on off road trails). Maybe those folks don't ever bother with detailing.

That does it! Didn't even rinse or change Brillo pads? The next thing you're going to tell me is he used one bucket and no grit guard. Some people...
