Hi everyone

Is it safe to use a wash mitt once the foam has dwelled on the car or do I need to rinse the foam off first then proceed with a two bucket wash?

I've seen a few detailing videos where the car has been sprayed with foam and a few minutes later they start with a two bucket method.

I was under the impression you had to rinse the foam off first before you start washing the rest of the car.

Any help and clarification would be great!

I honestly foam it and then start with the two bucket method minute or two after. Doesn't matter if I'm using the foam cannon or the Bunny K. If my truck is super dirty I foam and rinse it off and then repeat the process.

I don't rinse the foam off. I just start with a bucket of shampoo wash and wash mitt after applying the foam. Then do the rinse.

I use WRAPT's procedure on my black car. I foam and proceed to wash mitt my wife's white car with 2 rinse buckets.

If you plan on machine polishing the car after your wash:

  • foam
  • wash (while the foam is on the car)
  • rinse

If you don't plan on polishing afterwards:

  • foam
  • rinse
  • 2BM or (foam again with 2BM)
  • rinse

yea something about rubbing around the dirt and gunk that's suspended on the first foam down doesn't sit well with me....I'd rather rinse it off then lay down a fresh layer of foam and then do my wash

Since it appears you have no water restrictions:
I'd suggest using a pressure washer,
long before I ever would a foam gun.

Bob, I don't have water restriction, and I have pressure washer with foam cannon. What would be your recommendation for me?
