Wash Mitt for ONR

Alex, if there is one thing I have learned, it is that speed comes with experience. When you are in the early stages you will be so focused on technique that time will just slip by. That is by no means a bad thing.

As for the ONR mitt, I like the Shmitt.

Yeah I definitely understand. I'm trying to remain patient and just absorb everything. Everyone has been there, I'm sure.

I'll check the Shmitt out...I've heard that name before.

alex,
i've tried both the LC blue sponge and a MF dreadlock mitt. both work well. the mitt is more pliable so it gets into all the crevices and grooves easier. kinda have to apply a little more pressure to get the blue sponge to conform to those areas (i always hesitate to push too hard on the paint), eg. under door handles, along the rain gutters, etc.

i'm gonna try the MF towel as a wash media too. i saw a tutorial on autopia where he does a first (or more) pass to clean, then rinses his MF and wrings it out so its damp and uses this same MF to get rid of the majority of the water, then finishes off with a different drying MF to complete.

A MF Towel?! Really? Hmmm interesting. I'd be so worried about inducing swirls. I get paranoid using a QD...thats why I try not to use them.

I felt the same way before I tried it. As long as you use common sense you shouldn't have a problem. I used several towels when I tried it. I think the slickness of the solution aids prevents marring.

I've been trying different methods to see what I prefer. I also tried the microfiber chenille mitt and it worked well also but I still liked the towel better. Sometimes I feel the sheepskin glided over the dirt and didn't always pick up everything

I use a double sided MF dreadlocks mitt. One side for the first pass that will pick up the dirt, grime, etc and the other side to finish cleaning it. Both will little to no pressure. If I am just using a mitt with only one side, I clean every panel twice. First is one pass to pick up the dirt, grime etc, then rinse the mitt well, and clean it. I tried plush MF too and it seem to work well using the two sides method. In both cases, I use more than one medium.

I use the microfiber car wash mop on a pole from Walmart. Its cheap and my back doesn't hurt after I wash my car. It works as well as any of the wash media I've ever used.

I've used a MF-covered sponge (similar to the Cobra Bone), the LC blue sponge, MF towels, and a dreadlock/noodle MF mitt - I prefer the noodle mitt out of all of them, as I just feel that the long dreadlock hairs are better at keeping the dirt off the paint than with the other wash media.

lots of preferences out there for sure

Mother's sheepskin mitt gets good reviews
Adam's synthetic sheepskin apparently is really durable
Some even use proline grout sponges from HD

I like the sheepskin pads that on bogo now but it's hit or miss sometimes. I haven't experienced it but others have little bits of the hair shedding all over the place.

took you a long time to do your car man. I knocked mine out yesterday in about 6 hours... kaio and 2 coats of ksg... that stuff rocks!

I loved my bogo mitts. Last time they were on bogo I bout like 20 of them. I don't like them now because I realized how much they shed, its ridiculous.
