Washin' your Microfiber Stuff

I find Microrestore and Rejuvintor both work as well as liquid laundry detergent and vinegar combo. They both seem to release alot of the junk that some offer vinegar or boiling will.

Bring water to a full boil, allow microfiber towels to boil for twenty (20) minutes (ensure that water does not fully evaporate) You will find that more wax / polish residue comes out even after a towel has been thoroughly washed.

Empty out the water and then remove the towel, don't do it the other way or you'll re-introduce debris to the towel again

Thanks for qualifying that:cheers:

Would using one of those fabric softener sheets in the dryer be a bad idea?

Yes. Fabric softeners actually hinder the absorbtion ability. All MFs care instructions warn against using softeners.

I also hear if you dry them in a dryer you will destroy them.

Drying is not the culprit, however those laundry fabric towels are a no-no too. Thus why I offer the Blue Balls to keep 'em fluffy.

Note: to ensure that the washing machine has no residual detergent or fabric softener; rise with a 1:3 solution of washing liquid (with no bleach) / distilled white vinegar, clean about every 2-3 months

So is drying in the dryer good or bad?

Im asking because my wife recently put my MFs in the electric dryer on "normal" heat setting. These were mostly cheaper ones from Auto ZOne.

Is it true that the fibers melt? If so, will they scratch my paint now? Should I trash them or are they safe??

I just bought "ALL" clean and free for my MF's (No dyes or fragrances). Will this work for the MF's or should I just buy specialized wash for them? Also do I boil first (If I want to), then throw them in the wash? Does the boiling hurt them at all?

EDIT: Found a pretty good thread on Autopia about boiling towels. Not 100% sure of the credability, but its worth a read.

All clean and free should be fine. No fabric softner. I would keep your wax and sealant mf's separate and boil for 20 mins. every 2nd or third wash. And no, drying on low to med heat will not hurt your MF's.

this sounds about like what I do (actually doing right now) detergent is always free of perfumes, softeners etc...hot water gentle wash with at least 1 extra full rinse cycle.

I have not yet done anything with vinegar but I need to implement that in the rinse frm time to time. Low heat dry until almost dry.

Most towels have survived this routine for months, but I'm starting to notice the Viking towels from Kmart getting a little extra scratchy feeling on the paint. I don't like that feeling at all.
