Washing Microfiber towels - what temp ?

I don't think so, they seem to be just as soft as the ever were. Is this something that can happen? I'm using the Gold Plush Jr.'s.

edit: didn't realize how big this thread was. just went back a few pages and it looks like this has been quite a heated discussion.

And here I thought I was going to read a thread about washing microfiber towels. What the heck happened?

I'm not completely convinced;
but: Over the years I've heard that:

The Central Bank's hegemony
was a major reason that Hitler
"threw in the towel"
to his
ownership of self-control.

However:
I am convinced,
(Even if the above is true);
It wasn't a Micro Fiber
Towel
...that Hitler threw.

That's funny, i thought it was the Russian 3rd shock army that made hitler "throw in the towel".... on his own life that is....

Did any of your towels burn and melt in that hot water you used?

i just did a load and dried them on hot... all i have left is a pile of goo.... no but seriously i dried some of my gold plush jrs on high once and it did some damage. a lot of color fading mostly and a rougher texture then the rest of them

As intelligent as you think you are (sometimes coming across quite arrogant ) hitler (who doesn't deserve a capital, so yes I made that error ) was controlled by a force a thousand times more powerful than a bank. Try to think outside your box.

i do the same thing, every bodies a genius, millionaire online. what force are you referring too?

I just did a load of towels.

Scent and dye-free laundry detergent, wash with hot water, double rinse with cool. Dryer on high until towels are about 75% dry, then hang to dry until finished. Sometimes I'll throw them back in the dryer on high for ~10 min to make them a bit more soft and fluffy.

I think they are probably all damaged now so you might want to box them up and send them to me...once I receive the package i will analyze them for free and report back. If they are junk ill go ahead and toss them for you

lol

I've been using hot water and 3D BDX Towel Kleen with GREAT results. I add 3 ounces to the load, a bit more than needed but no complaints whatsoever.

I'll chime in on this thread (MF TOWELS only) since so many opinions.

Have an HE washer, use 1-2 oz of Chemical Guys MF wash (bought 1 of those 32 oz measuring bottles - COOL!) I sort (after use) the towels into Light, Med or Heavy "dirt." I run the "light dirt" towels on Hot - Regular, Stain Removal & Allergy Rinse. The other towels are presoaked in separate 5 gal pails with MF wash in them (I'm not in a rush so it's a day or 2 before I get the them. LOL). I use HOT WATER - because I have trimmed water heater to 120 (or so) degrees. As stated earlier in this thread, no one needs 140-160. Wasteful & dangerous. Plus, specs on our washer shows the temp it heats wash water to. (IIRC, it's 120 as well.)

I do 3 diff loads. I usually stop the washer in mid-cycle to allow for addt'l 30 min or so of soaking of the dirtier loads.

Dry - LOWEST heat setting (older dryer, not steam, etc.) to almost dry. I'll run "Fluff" setting sometimes, which tumbles w/o heat.

Yes, I know, I should segregate the glass towels, etc. I don't have a car biz, so I have a large, but not huge MF towel collection. (I have a MF ranging from "ok" towels to Gold Plush & Eagle Edgeless. Mainly the better quality.)

HTH,
Allan

PS - Just to see how many OTHERS have interest in this topic, look at the suggested or similar topics below this thread - all have almost SAME thread title too! Maybe there ought to be an official thread or "Sticky" for this!

130 posts and we have not come to a consensus on how to wash and dry MF towels properly. How can we ever decide if something of actual historical significance like the Holocaust was real or not?

If you can get the job done with cold why even bother going hotter. Mine has 4 settings I use the 2nd hottest setting. If you work clean and have ocd you should be inspecting your mf towels prior to use any ways. Ocassionally you will find one with debris you cant remove such as those leafs, these will get stepped down to, fenders liners/wheels/engine.

I have been washing mine on Warm and Eco Warm on my Samsung Exploder washing machine. They have come out a lot softer than washing on hot like I had been doing previously. I dry on low as well.

The last time I washed towels I tried soaking them for an extended period of time for the first time. This REALLY helps get the dirt and stains out.
I made a mixture of Towel Kleen,Megs APC,and Dawn and let them soak in a bucket for a week or so. They came out spotless after washing using Towel Kleen and the Eco-Warm setting, and they were pretty nasty from a waterless wash job.
