Anybody have luck with a water based dressing on suv tires? I always use a gel on our trucks, in the past tried PB's Bold and Bright a few times and didn't seem to absorb into the tires (even on new clean tires). I seem to find water based ones better suited to car tires then say a/t suv tires for some reason.

But looking for a different look now, like matte sheen, anybody used water based like Surf City, Optimum etc on suv tires with luck?

aahhh frick -- wrong area lol

Try Meg's Hyper Dressing 1:1 or 2:1

go frick yourself :D

Never liked Hyper Dressing, had no durability even on trim.

hmmm......odd......works good for me and I've got the same exact tires you do. Try Pinnacle Black Onyx then.......you can actually see where it absorbs into the tread from the sidewalls. Good stuff there.

you're just used to AA Gel, which lasts for weeks, even through rain!! lol
I'm spoiled by it :D , even my side view mirror casings are still beading water off after a month.

Just looking for a slightly different look on tires, like a nice matte sheen ala Optimum, Poorboys, but for some reason Gels were the only ones that worked good on our trucks a/t tires even when I tried some of the water based dressings on new tires. Maybe my bottle of PB BB was bad, seemed to work good on car tires.

i use pinnicle gel on my all terrain tires. i put it on with a paint brush leaves a nice wet look .

DG 253 is one of my favorites for large tires. More even, dark and a little less shine than BnB. Lasts much longer for me.

i wonder if oil and viniger mix would work nicely:p i know it makes my salad nice and shiny:D

Just tried this two weeks ago. I love it! Dose not have the shine like AA nor dose it pick up dust like AA.

I use hyper dressing via paint gun and compressor with excellent results. I can't imagine doing tire shine any other way.

Yeah, that non-silicone dressing is the shiz.

I use a product called Majestic Solutions Poly-Protectant. See if you can search it up. It works on suv/all-terrain tires (I dont do any cars, so this is tested on big*er* tires), gives the exact look you are going for!

DP Gloss Tire Gel is water based with a good amount of shine. It has always worked with the stock tires on my Expedition.

All this time I thought it was oil based...I just look at it and you are right its water based.....Thanks Jimmie for bringing this to my attentions.
DP Gloss Tire Gel penetrates deep below the surface to hydrate and refresh dull, dry rubber.
The secret is absorption. DP Gloss Tire Gel doesn’t sit on top of the rubber. The VOC compliant formula penetrates deep below the surface to hydrate and refresh dull, dry rubber. The gel actually cures to the rubber to create a long-lasting finish that resists sling-off. Because the gel is within the rubber, it does not rinse off in the rain and it even lasts through a wash or two. When applying DP Gloss Tire Gel, it is necessary to allow the gel to cure to the rubber for 30 minutes before driving or applying another coat. Do not allow the gel to pool around raised letters or around the edge of the wheel. Thin, even coats will prevent sling-off and allow for optimum longevity. If overspray occurs, simply wipe it off. This water-based gel will not affect the clear coat of painted surfaces.

Yeh think I'm gonna try DP Gel, just looking for a different look, and I think Gary used it on his pickup if I recall from pics and came out great, seems to have a nice almost matte sheen for a gel, AA is great but it looks too bling bling on some colors, white vehicle looks great, others I'd prefer something more softer looking.

Yep, I knew it was water based too, but you stated you wanted a more natural(matte) look, which is why I didn't recommend it. DP is glossier than Pinnacle Black Onyx. Both are great though.
