water etching on 2015 Subaru STi

I was actually looking into an aftermarket exhaust but now that I have the car and I'm driving it, I don't know why you would want anything louder. Srsly. I feel bad in the morning bc I leave my house at 6am and the neighbors have to listen to me warm my car up. Meh...m too bad...Lol

15mm or 20mm spacers aren't a good idea on 300+ hp cars period. But I actually like the wheels like come with the car so it's a catch 22. Plus, I haven't really found a wheel that I like.
 
Update:

I made a great a great repore over the last few weeks with a super duper high end detailer here in South Florida and he offered to take a look at the STi and even remove the water spots in a test area and tell me what I need. I offered to pay him to do it but he is booked until May. Lmao. Maybe I couldn't even afford him anyways.

Don't forget to have them put something on the sides just in front of the rear wheels. Those get chewed up pretty bad on the road as well as the front ends. Subaru has had crap for paint since 2005 and any protection you can put on them is probably still not enough. lol I'd normally recommend you just clear bra the front bumper and skip the hood, but even dust seems to enjoy carving paths in this paint.

Anyway, the good news is that I've never had issues getting waterspots off Subie paint. It is soft enough that it will come out with just about anything stronger than a chemical paint cleaner. The best thing to do is try what you have and if it doesn't work then you just bump it up a notch. Either use a more aggressive pad or a more aggressive polish. Detailing recommendations are pretty impossible to make without being able to inspect the paint. Most of us try two or three products on a car before we settle on what we will use on the entire thing, so don't expect a black and white answer when it comes to paint care. It is different in every situation. Trial and error is your friend. :) Let us know what worked best.

I just think it's funny that the dealership said that clay bar will remove the water spots. Idk Maybe it will. What do you think?
 
I stopped by the body shop where Eddie was working and he totally stopped what he was doing to help me out today. He is such a nice person I had to ask, " you can't be from Florida? ", but he was. Lmao

He tried a few different products. No polishes. no compounds. No puffers of DA's.

He only tried (2) water spot removers, and both seemed to work fairly well, so I ordered a bottle from autogeek.

Here is what worked best. Optimum MDR Mineral Deposit Remover, water spot remover for paint, water spot remover glass

I called autogeek and spoke to Brian. as soon as I told him the story, he instantly knew who I was..... " oh, you're the guy with the NEW silver STi on the forum..... ", yup.... that's me. Brain states, " ok. I will get this out tonight so you can have it for tomorrow and this way you'll have your car ready for Saturday ".

Now, that's service! Thanks Brian!

Heuberger?

Claying will help remove surface minerals that are water spots. But once the minerals or chemicals in the water etch into the paint forming an uneven surface polishing is required to level it. Either way good luck with removing it, patience and dedication will make it worth it.

Yes, Heuberger. they are a bunch of nice people. Great experience!

Water spot remover removed them without a problem. So.... today after work I started on this tedious process and I found out that I didn't even have to use the water sport remover after all.

I washed and dried through car 100%, and then Iron X'ed the whole car and rinsed thoroughly. I then spent twice as long as the first time rewashing the car using extra soap with my foam gun. I let the suds soak in while I went around with my mitt and a nice lather. I rinsed and then dried.

With the first swipe of my microfiber guzzler I knew that my problem was gone. I'm sure this wasn't water eching (yet), but just water spots. Iron X removed it from the car 100%! I couldn't find a reason to move forward with the Carpro MDR water spot remover, so I began to Opti-coat the front end where to clearbra is going to be install and I had just enough time to Opti-seal the roof before the sum went down.

I drove it under a street light and couldn't for the life of me see any water spots. Gone!

I do, however, still see some water spots in the window glass and mirrors, and I didn't really focus on those parts of the car when I was spraying the Iron X anyways, so I will be using the MDR on those parts of the car.
