He guys

3 days ago i started playing with my new toy (the pc).I did a swirl removal followed by a polishing (megs twins with orange and white lc pads) and i ended up sealing the paint with wolf deep gloss 3.0 sealer.
Sealer was applied wednesday night and the car was driven thursday morning. As soon as i got the car back thursday noon i wanted to finish up the job with a wax but I realized that there were water spots all over the hood(car was not exposed to rain)

What could of have caused this ?

heres a link to my other thread

thanks

If the car is parked outside it sounds like the dew caused your problem.

The car was kept in the garage from 11pm to 6am but yeah thats what i thought too.

The sealer says that it needs 12 hrs to cure and it only got around 7 hrs.

I wouldn't care about the cure time, that isn't going to cause your spots. Something got on the surface to cause your problem unfortunetly.

since im a noob i would like to know.. what should i do now ? polish the paint and seal it again? or just wax it as is?

How dirty was your paint before the polishing? Maybe the water spots were there just hidden under the dirt or dull paint. By polishing it you brought them out.

it wasnt dirty. I washed the hood before i started working on it. I dont think it was there before because i would of have seen it.
When i was done with the sealer the paint look really good.

Get those water spots off ASAP! If you get them right away with some vinegar/water spray you won't have to polish. Hopefully it hasn't been baking in the sun all day. This early on the vinegar/water should take it out. If theres any light dust/dirt on the hood you might use some ONR at QD strength before you remove with vinegar/water and a mf. The ONR might take them out on it's own if your early enough.

thansk for the tip!

ill try it later ;)

Water spots are usually,

  1. Mineral deposits on the surface
  2. Etchings in the paint
  3. Discoloration of the paint, no paint is missing, mostly happens to single stage but can happen to clear coats

Is it possible the spots were in the paint before you polished the paint and you didn't fully remove them? Then they showed up later?

Dew is a pretty even layer of moisture spread out over a large surface area, not likely to cause round spots or etchings. Water drops that are left to dry can leave etchings that resemble the area covered by the drop.

Try re-polishing JUST a small section, place some painter's tape down and work on just one side of the tape so you can see very distinctly what's taking place on the side you're working on. Wipe off and inspect and tell us what you see.

Mike dew will cause water spots, I do not understand how you could say it wouldn't. I have seen this on my on cars.

You'll get no argument out of me Asphalt...

I'm just saying that dew will tend to be tiny droplets that will sometimes form a uniform layer of moisture.

Water drops are just that, drops, usually larger than tiny droplets of dew.

The Original Poster could help everyone out by sharing a picture or even measuring the size of the water marks or spots he's referring to? With digital cameras and Photobucket, it's not that hard to get a picture up of what you're seeing on the hood of your car.

Here's some links to help you with pictures,
