water reclaimation

IN New Jersey its against the law to wash your car on your driveway. I haven't heard anyone being fined for doing it.

As long as waste water doesn't leave site you aren't breaking the law. Use a sock filter to contain water( if your at a home, use it to have run off drain to lawn, since it drains to lawn it doesn't leave site)

The pressure washing industry is trying to stop some uncommon sense laws from being passed, about run off. The city of Houston, TX almost put all pressure washer out of business cause of the way they wrote there's. They since changed it thanks to some smart pressure washers companies showing you don't need thousands or hundred of thousand of dollars to accoplish waster water managment.

After another 'inspired' talk with the city today it was clear that although they were frowning on the water deal, the simple fact of my property not being zoned for that kind of work is enough to not even worry about water issues. Would have been nice to know that awhile ago. So I took another step backwards today. Since the 1986 list of home-based jobs did not specifically include 'auto detailing' the point is useless.
It's not on the chart, it's not an identified job.
If the box doesn't exist, they can't put a check in it.
Gonna let it all go.
I'm just clouding the issue with logic it appears.
I was an elevator mechanic for 34 years but was laid-off in January.
I'm all out of that kind of energy for those kinds of people.
You can't fix stupid.
Just gonna move on.

Well if it is not a job/business what is stopping you from just doing it, are they going to fine you for something they don't think exists?

Good point and I appreciate it.
I'll probably see how the word of mouth goes as I don't want to advertise. In time I'll learn more. My skills are limited but can use my 'apprentice' knowledge to make a little money I thought. Have no intentions to represent myself as something I'm not as most people will be thrilled with a wash, clay, one-step sealant, nice wax finish, tires done, etc. by machine/hand. I'm not really one to take risks at this point in my life. Something weird happens, I get a 10k fine or something ridiculous like that and I'm cooked. Don't have a lot of resources over the next 10 years as I can see to recover from something like that.
It's interesting though...the more the public (customers) know about paint and the 'protection of their investment' the more they are liable to take the extra step. I bought 2 cars at the beginning of this year and that's what prompted me to learn more about protecting. I've found that people are fascinated by the core reasons of detailing a vehicle. The more they know, the more the industry thrives.

I was a maverick in the business that I knew well since 1978.
I'll do what comes around but my rebel days are over.
There are always openings available in the housekeeping and food service industries.
