Hi i purchased a 2010 CRV last year that had some water spot issues that i was confident i could remove. So using menz 400 they were gone so i topped it with c845 happy with the results i had a bourbon. But whenever I do a rw on it they reapear until i dry the panel. Is it witchcraft? ?

So why does this happen,,?
Color is a metallic maroon (much to common).
Thanks Steve

Oh...you have the "phantom spots" that when you wipe the surface appear in the water film on the surface, then disappear when it dries. I think these are some "dirt" that collects in droplets when it rains, and creates a deposit in the shape of the drop.

It's also possible that they are some sub-surface remnant of the water spots you removed.

Thanks can I get rid of them?

If it's just those phantom spots then some sort of paint cleaner should clean them up--obviously if they are remnants of etched water spots you will have to polish more.

Would you describe the way they look as

Stains? - Dull looking spots of paint.

Or more like imprint rings?

Water Spot Imprint Rings
These are called Water Spot Imprint Rings. The clear coat finish is actually lightly etched at the perimeter of the ring. For this reason, washing won't remove the ring, wiping with some type of water spot remover won't remove the ring and claying won't remove the ring. The paint will need to be machine polished to remove the shallow etching.

Mike aka Setec-Astronomy is right, more compounding or polishing, basically you need to remove more paint and level the surface till its flat and the defects is removed.

:)

Huh, interesting.

I don't mean to threadjack, but it's kinda related.

I tried polishing my Accord w/ M105 + orange pad @speed 5, but the water spots stayed there. Did I simply not press down hard enough?

Well the ws could be permanently etched the 105 should do it if there not etched mine will need a light polish. But understand they are NOT visible unless wet.

Yea. I'm not sure at this point.

I checked my car the following day and couldn't see the water spots anymore, but I think it just depends on the angle I look at them.

I had to rush the detail job though since I moved out the following day.

Do you have any pictures of your spots?
