Hey people I'm new here, I have a 69 nova with about a 12 year old paint job,and the last 6 months it sat in front of my apts where the spinklers run,I tried 3m rubbing compound it cleaned up the paint real good but the water spots are still there ,the outline of them anyways, also I tried the vinegar/alcohol/distilled water and it didnt work, I also have 00 audi a4 with real bad water spots on the windows and tried the 0000 steel wool and vinegar mix and it got rid of some of the spots but not all of them. What should I try now, thanks for any help. Jason

May need 2000-2500 grit wet /dry with blocking application.follow up with a finish polish.....

Water spots might have etched through your paint...wetsanding might be the best solution, or maybe even perpainting...

Usually polishing will take off water spots. It worked for me on some very bad water spots both on paint and windows. What type of pad and polisher did you use to apply the 3m rubbing compound? Wet sanding is pretty aggressive. I would try a more agressive pad and compound combination on a spot before wet sanding.

i just used a terry cloth towel to apply it

I would try to polish it with a PC, UDM or Rotary with a cutting pad. Doing it by hand is not going to cut it. I would definitely try polishing it with a machine before wet sanding it.
