Water transfer question

I once tried a Karcher K 2.27 Car Care Kit. I bought it for its ability to siphon from a standing source. In initial testing, it seemed okay for like a minute. Then...it didn't seem to pull the water, or even push it, too well. I gave up on trying to make it work, so I sent it back.

I'm currently trying to get a system together to use a water tank, along with the Shurflo 4008-101 (3.0 GPM, 12v, 55psi, internal bypass). Initial testing seemed just *OK* as I was kind of hoping to get at least pressure similar to household water hose. Research indicated the household stuff is around 50-60psi, so I thought I was good. Like I said, it was *OK* but didn't have the same reach as my household hose. (I compared the two).

At any rate, I'm satisfied enough with this to continue with the project. I'll be using smaller hose diameter as the standard 3/4" hose seemed to affect the volume and/or pressure. Swapping to the smaller 1/2 (borrowed from the sprinkler system) proved to have better results.

Here's a pic of the setup during that initial testing:

edit: the pump has 1/2" male connections. I had to buy some 1/2" to 3/4" adapters to use a "standard" hose to connect to the water hose nozzle(s)

SHURflo Extreme Series Smart Sensor 5.7 Pump. I have one to pump my RO/DI thru a hose and spray nozzle. If you have trouble finding one look on RV sites. Mine has lasted for 10 years now. I will post up the model number if you want it.

Wow! 10 years is a long time for such a small pump. I will have to look into it :)

Knock on wood. Have not even had to replace the membrane in it yet. It has only had RO/DI water going thru it so that could be why.
