I have a black GMC truck that I corrected with 3D One and coated with BLACKFIRE coating last winter. I use proper washing techniques and occasionally top the coating with McKees hydro blue and the finish shows almost no marring after 8 months or so of weekly washes.

Anyhow, last week I got hit by a sprinkler in the middle of a hot day while parked. The spots sat on the car for a few days until I washed and left what appeared to be some etching or residue. I tried wiping them post wash with some apc and onr and the spots remained so I went ahead and ordered some CarPro spot remover (arrives next week).

However, after a day in the sun the spots are completely gone. I washed the truck again to make sure they weren’t just masked by dust and they are truly gone. What gives?? Is there some sort of self-healing property in the BLACKFIRE coating?

Heat swells the clear coat and hides imperfections like that. Once it cools down again they might reappear.

Interesting...... after sitting in the garage all night they are still gone.

You asked: What gives?

IMO:
•You could consider yourself lucky.

Or that:
•"The Stars Were All Lined Up".

But be glad that:
•God smiled down on you.
