'Wax Machine Stick' packaging: Great Idea! Why no Others?

Good point on it breaking. Also you can make your own, get a empty deodorant holder like that, find them all over online. Melt your wax and pour it into the holder and let it cool. Only issue is what Killrwheels said, it can break easily if you are not careful. I tried DA waxing once and never again, just felt wrong and feel like by hand I do much better job and less risk of swirls or anything. Also, that is my favorite part of the job putting on that final "candy" coating.

I made my own stick last weekend. Cleaned out a deoderant container, melted some Collinite 915 in a plastic baggie in hot water, cut a hole in the bag and then squeezed it into the container (like a pastry bag for baking). Took about an hour. Cooled overnight in the fridge. I can't wait to try it this weekend --- if it doesn't rain yet again. I will let you know how it goes. I like a paste wax better than a liquid, but I find it is more difficult to use with a DA. I am hoping this solution works.

I am curious how people like the Griot's stick. Do you get good results? Does it last reasonably long? I want to use the Collinite for the winter.

Griot's Carnauba Wax Stick is excellent stuff. Easy to use, looks great and as long lasting or longer as any carnauba I've ever used.

I've made up several of my own sticks. I have made sticks with Signature II, Fuzion, Souveran and others. I sourced and purchased the "Lotion Tubes" online. I melt the wax in a double boiler arrangement. a small sauce pan in a larger shallow pan. Keep the water just below boiling and keep the wax moving. When the wax turns clear, pour it into your dispensers and let it cool.

Between the wax, solvents and oils I really can't think of a much more flamable mixture. I have a fire extinguisher close by and would not even consider trying this over a gas flame.

I like using the sticks for hand and machine waxing. I think it really beats digging out of a jar. I also waste a lot less using the sticks.

Thank you. I will make sure to give it a try. Certainly easier (and less messy) than my homemade stick. But it did keep me busy on a rainy day.

I was able to avoid the melting method by simply squeezing the wax while in a plastic bag to break it up a bit and shove it into a deodorant container. I was not good in chemistry so didn't want to alter the wax by heating and cooling it.

As the price of DA machines has become very affordable and more of us move in that direction, I ask this question: why haven't any manufacturers jumped on the 'machine stick' applicator packaging form factor as Dodo has ?

IIRC, Griot's, not Dodo, was the first one that did something like that.

You guys could also try a candle warmer, they look like electric plates. Salon wax warmers also. I don't know how long it will take, but seems the safest route. Also might only use tin cans.

Mothers CG paste comes in a tin that is wide enough to get a 5.5" pad in. Simplest solution of all.

I like the idea of the stick wax. Might have to try it after I run out of 915, 476, 845, and Natty's Blue. Oh, I guess that means never, LOL!

I did this with Fusion last fall. I prefer to apply wax by machine, especially after working on a car all day. The last thing I want to do is manually apply wax while fighting end-of-the-day fatigue.
Anyway, I wasn't using my Fusion for this reason...too much work...as opposed to just stopping at a sealant. I had an old deodorant bottle, melted the Fusion down and carefully poured it in. It solidified very nicely and looks normal. I have not actually used it yet as it was late in the season, but I am looking forward to some effortless Fusion this spring.
