Waxed A New Paint Job Advice Needed

I painted my engine compartment about 7 weeks ago with the sem hot rod black kit. (2k single stage top coat system). The engine is still out of the car as it is getting rebuilt. I waxed my engine compartment a couple of days ago with meguiars cleaner wax then I was reading an article that stated you should wait 3/6 months before waxing new paint so it can cure. Should I try to remove the wax with something like Dawn dish washing soap so the paint can cure ? Any advice on what I should do would be appreciated.

Hi Ohio,

7 weeks is almost 2 months so you're well past the normal 30 day recommendation.

At this point you might as well leave it alone. You're not supposed to seal fresh paint but again, this is 7 weeks old, anything that was going to flash out or outgass already has flashed off. Trying to remove it might just end up being much to do about nothing. If it were mine I wouldn't try to remove it.

What are you working on?

I re-painted my engine compartment before installing my new 454, came out pretty good, at least everything's clean and sanitary.

Only have an iphone picture,

I'm waiting for a Transporter to accept the job to bring it out here from SoCal.

I miss my truck... had to run some smaller tires on the front until I could lift it another 2 inches due to the extra weight from the Big Block Chevy. All 4 35" Boggers are on it now and it's ready to pound some pavement.

Thank you for the advice. Your engine & compartment looks real good. I am working on a 1969 z28 camaro. I should have my 302 engine back from watson & rupple engine shop in about 2 weeks. I still have some interior work & other stuff to work on so it looks like the car cruises/shows will have to wait till next year. Thanks again.

That Jimmy is sick. I've always wanted something with boggers on it, lol

Wow! First generation Camaro!

Too cool, we need some pictures. If you're in driving distance to Stuart Florida then you're invited to bring your Camaro to the AG Garage and we'll help you polish it to perfection any day of the week.

Now that's a "car". :dblthumb2:

Boggers are ridiculous on a daily driver, but they sure look cool and even sound cooler driving down the road, if you're into this kind of thing. As soon as these wear out the Jimmy is getting 40" Boggers. I wore out two sets of 44" Super Swampers on my first monster truck but they were no where near as cool looking or loud as the Boggers are.
