Not new to detailing, but new to maching polishing. Have a few questions. I understand about removing swirls where you do a small section horizonally and vertically until the scratches are gone. The vehicle I'm detailing is a 2007 Grand Cherokee Limited, black. No swirls, no scratches. This is what I plan to do to this vehicle:

1. Wash with a Foam Master foam gun with DP Extreme Foam
2. Clay
3. Klasse All in One
4. Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
5. Two coats of Collonite 845

What would be a good pad to use for the Klasse All in One, the sealant and the Collonite 845? I have different color pads 6 1/2" with a 5" backing plate. I also have a 5 1/2" red 7/8"pad that came with the kit.

Do I still need to do horizonal and vertical when applying the Klasse All in One, the sealant and the Collonite or do I just go horizonal or the way the wind blows over the panels? About how many passes do I need to do? Also what is the best speed for these applications? Thanks your time, sorry about the lengthy post!

Did you inspect this paint in full sun? Unless it was recently polished, it's hard to believe that it needs an aio and wax, but has no marring.

Black vehicle with no marring hard to beleive but good for you makes things easier.

I do KAIO on either a white or black pad on 4 depending on how much cleaning is needed.

I apply all sealants and waxes using a red pad at 3.

I apply everything using the standard pattern 2x2, multiple passes each overlapping the previous IE up and down left to right.

Read up on 845, I love it but mutiple coats can lead to wax hazing. I would suggest just one coat. With that and a good coat of HGSG you should be well protected.

1) There's a difference between scratches & swirls. Swirls can be removed, some scratches can't because they're too deep and removing them can do more damage.
2) My understanding: using AIO, the purpose of horizontal & vertical passes is to ensure an even spread of the product. KAIO is a great product, probably will not removes swirls, won't remove scratches. I have a PC 7424XP and use KAIO on setting 4, LC CCS 5.5" blue pad. When I use a sealant I use red LC CCS 5.5" red pad, PC setting 4.
3) My understanding: two coats wax and/or sealant is to ensure complete coverage; no additional protection or shine is offered by multiple leayers. I'm sure some will disagree. I use one coat of wax on my black RAV4.

While i may be new i think your are over doing it with your steps. either way please take pics of before and after.

Two coats of wax on top of sealant is just a waste of product IMO.

I did inspect it in the sun. The reason I want use aio is because this car is used only in the winter, 5 months of Northern Michigan weather. The other 7 months it is a "garage queen".
