WD-40 to clean wheel weels?

You mean spraying my rotors with it so they don't rust is bad?? :laughing::laughing:

Grease would be better, a bit more work but the disks will be protected for a long time.

Of course, I would not drive the car once this has been done.... but the disks will be protected.

WD-40 is not formulated to be a “cleaner”.

Are you implying that these products
are also formulated to act as cleaners?

Well it might not technically be a cleaner but WD-40 because it has solvents and oils in it can clean pretty well. Of course afterwards the surface will be covered with oil, so it's not "clean" but it does have the ability to remove many types of contaminants including Tar and glue and other nasty stuff. In a pinch it could be helpul but other products would be my first choice obviously.

Yes, did mean wheel wells but also discovered mine are felt lined. Wonder what the point of using felt is? Thanks for all the replies everyone.

It cuts down the road sounds and vibrations from the wheels and make the car quieter for the driver.
