These are Cane Toads, also know as Bufo Toads (as Mike said), and are common here in South FL. I've seen them much bigger than that.

They are poisonous. The triangular shaped glands behind the eyes with the small holes secrete poison when they are threatened.

I had a German Shepherd when I was a kid that used to go after those. I constantly had to keep him away from them.

One time we didn't make it in time and he wound up dying from the poison.
