Dear Forum Members,

Each year I detail a vehicle for a family I have been friends with nearly me entire life. The parents are like second parents to me, and the daughter a good friend and former classmate. Good peeps to say the least.

Well each year they take a nice vacation to a time share - approx. 600 miles from home and spend 2 months there. Good for them I say...they worked hard all their lives. Each year my gift to them is a full detail of whichever vehicle they use for their vacation. This is a great opportunity to correct/clean what Mother Nature has inflicted over the past year, but also apply some protection as they vacation by the ocean - lots of exposure to salt water/wind.

So this afternoon I got around to it. The SUV was dirty from the over-zealous road crews in NJ who salt during flurries. Washed the SUV twice to ensure she was really clean. Then I noticed what looked like scratches inflicted from a lion gone wild on the hood! I figured it might have been from a visit to a swirl tunnel, but it was isolated to half of the hood. There were no such scratches on the other half of the hood or roof. Solving the mystery wasn't nearly as important as fixing it - so off I went.

I Clayed and then corrected the scratches with McKees 37 FAST compound, LC ThinPro orange pads on a GG6. I proceeded to compound the the entire SUV, followed by application of a liquid wax. I was happy with the results but time was working against me ... I had less than an hour of sunlight left. Time to get to the interior.

Well low and behold, I open the doors to vacuum and right there in plain sight was THE WEAPON! I approached cautiously, not knowing if she was still alive! She was! Her teeth venerable, her handle firm. She meant business, but I was going to stand my ground! I put her in a headlock and extracted her from the rear seat for good!! She was no longer going to be used as a weapon - even though the owner saw her as a friend! LOL!

yes I had a good talk in' to with the owner when he came to collect his vehicle. I told him he could wash his back with this brush but I don't want to see it within 25 feet of the car! He laughed and didn't realize just how much damage his 'friend' was causing until he saw these pics.

thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
