Wearing headphones while detailing?

Well then wear whatever the hell is comfortable to you. Why the hell even bother asking.

oh wait... this is irrelevent too! Oh well... :dblthumb2:

Guys this wasn't a topic asking what headphones I need; I've already decided.

I'm trying to decide between over-ear headphones, or in-ear headphones, or none at all because it might be a bad idea when I'm trying to be professional.

I think I've only gotten about 4 relevant posts in a whole 4 page topic...

If your getting this upset over head phones, wait till some jerkoff writes you a Hot Check for a detail. Your gonna be super pissed then

I think ppl were just trying to help you Comment. Sorry there were only 4 ppl smart enough to figure out what it was you were asking

Regards,

Flash

BTW...Who were the other 3 smart ppl :nerd:

...Are you people serious?

The original topic was me trying to figure out if It would be a bad idea to wear over-ear headphones while detailing for someone else. I was'nt sure if it would be looked at as unprofessional or not, and then the topic turned into 3 irrelevant pages about which headphones sounded the best, when I only wanted my question to be answered.

Well then wear whatever the hell is comfortable to you. Why the hell even bother asking.
I didn't ask what was the most comfortable headphone, I asked which style would be better to wear. If I wear over-ear headphones they could get wet and it might look bad on the business.

Seriously guys, come on.

Do you have a radio then, Jimmy?

Yes I do. However, when Mami is home she rules the roost. So I have to wear headphones. LOL.

If I'm going to be detailing as a business, I'm going to need music. I can either get in-ear headphones, or ones that go over my ears, and I cant decide which would be best.

The over ears could get hit by water and might look unprofessional and they could possibly get in the way.

The in ears could be uncomfortable and wont sound as nice as the over ears.

Anyone have personal experience detailing with either?

Umm, you actually asked if "Anyone had a personal experience detailing with either?" and people told you about there experience. Judging by the sentences in front of that one, you are asking about comfort, unprofessional apperance, and what will not get in the way. That is what we basically did. Some told you about comfort, some told you about the professional aspect. If you want to get pissed off about someone responding to your post in a way that you find irrelevant, even though it fit with the topic of the thread, then be more clear.

Here you go, "Are earphones when detailing unprofessional?"

I would go with in ear headphones like Westone 2. They are barely visible and are super comfortable. My experience is that in ear sound way better than over ear and you will not find any higher end (quality, sound, and fit) that are over ear so not sure why you think over ear sound better.

On another note...why are you getting upset with people giving you other ideas? The more info you get the better. You can always shuffle through what you think is crap and research what you think is relevant. Everyone was just trying to help you!! Don't be so sensitive and rude...

You should be thankful of how much people chimed in to give a thought or an idea. Go outside and ask any stranger and see what they tell you.

Don't take any of this wrong, I am not trying to throw you under the bus, but things via the interwebs don't have any "tone" behind them, so it is hard for you to know my true meaning.

1. "better to wear" could easily be mistaken for more comfortable, which could lead to things that were brought up in this thread.

2. If you want a specific answer, you should really give all the details. Would you ask a gun fanatic what's the best gun? and expect him to give you the perfect answer based upon the information given? Are we talking handgun, shotgun, machine gun, semi auto, full auto? Are you hunting, war, just for fun? Does it need to be water proof etc etc, the list could go on. So with that said "professional looking" will vary by market.
a. your location
b. your clientele
c. your future clientele
d. the exact headphone you have already chosen. (you said you already know what you will go with, so you must have 1 of each, in ear & over ear) Obviously you wouldn't want some gaudy looking headphone.

3. Finally to your second paragraph, over ear or in ear, both headphones can get wet.

In all, it sounds like you might think that in ear are fine, but over ear look unprofessional. If this is the case, I think both have the same effect so go with the one that pleases you more.

I'm really not being rude, I just don't need 3 pages of people discussing which headphones they like the most when I already stated which ones I like. You can discuss that somewhere else. I made this topic to get my question answered, and a few people answered it, but I was beginning to think I'd never get any actual response so I stepped in to try and clear it up, but now I'm being flamed for being rude and the sarcasm just keeps rolling in.

I think your just a more sensitive person then I am. I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway

Its all good man!

Yeah probably. I doubt they'll even walk out on me while I'm cleaning it, and as long as it looks good then they shouldn't care.

It just annoys me for some reason to see someone working for me wearing head phones. I feel as if I'm not getting their undivided attention

Maybe I'm just old or something

I must have missed that in you original posting (that is listed immediately below)--please point out the error of my way.

Thanks.

Also, even if my replies don't exactly fit into your idea of "to get my question answered"-- I will wait upon a higher authority than you to tell me where I may post. :D

You also state: " I'm going to need music...."

The only things you need, IMO, are: Air to breath, water to quench your thirst, food for nourishment, shelter from the weather, and clothes on your body!

Once you have made sure those essentials are met:

Then "If I'm going to be detailing as a business...."

After you have met the legal obligations that all businesses must meet to be legit--------Common Courtesy----then you might have a start for a customer base.

No offense intended, as there's been none taken.

FLAMED? Really? are you serious???? There were no flames going on here... A "flame" is when someone is rude by degrading your opinion or choice! It is also when people start calling you names and saying you "an idiot" for doing it that way... not for when people are having a bit of fun... You kinda brought the "irrelevant" comments on yourself by getting frustrated/pissed at the fact that people are chatting about the brands/style of audiophilic ingestion (yes I just made that up...) Please this is one of the only forums I have ever seen that "flaming is not common at all and honestly there are a lot of things that could be potential for flaming... I.E. What wax you choose....

I personally take offense that you would think that anyone on this board would flame you! And honestly you took offense within 13 posts... Get to know some people WE DON'T FLAME HERE!!!!!!!

How old are you? (yes this is relevant to the topic at hand)

Yeah probably. I doubt they'll even walk out on me while I'm cleaning it, and as long as it looks good then they shouldn't care.

It seems like you honestly don't care what they think with this comment... Do what you want it is your business isn't it...
Headphones aren't something that is nearly important as say personal hygiene or clothing choice, or even better what your vehicle that you use for your work looks like...

It just annoys me for some reason to see someone working for me wearing head phones. I feel as if I'm not getting their undivided attention

Maybe I'm just old or something

This is why I use a Makita portable radio... I play the music at a respectable level (not blasting) and find a "mix station" or plug in my iPod and hit shuffle on my "respectful" playlist...

I am sorry if my prior post came out sounding a bit condescending or like I was scolding you... I Hate it though when a new guy joins and off the bat starts accusing people of things... This forum is unlike any other I have ever been on! And I LOVE it! I take pride in telling people that I am a member of this forum and I hang the forum banner proudly in my shop!...

I may have been wrong in becoming snippy and if you feel that way then please take my apology.

I do not feel that I flamed you but people can take things in what ever way they want.

As far as relavancy to your OP I agree with ear buds but only putting on in... Water is not a huge issue with buds... The big ugly over the head "gangster/dj" style I feel are not acceptable as being professional. I worked for Chem-Dry in peoples houses and wore a single ear bud just to keep motion going many people would walk and talk with me as I cleaned and I never got a complaint about being unprofessional...

Jam out and get in the zone make the car shine and sparkle and most of all make people happy!
