Weekend project Ford 4x4

Hi guys/gals. So I was hoping to spend time in the garage finishing off the insulating but one of my supervisors came to me wondering if I would be able to remove the scratches that were caused by hitting one of the parking plug receptacles. So this weekend I'm going to be playing around with my boss’s truck. Talk about no pressure huh.

Take a look a the pictures, the scratches aren't that deep, they look worse then they actually are but just thought I'd post and see if you guys can give me some feed back.

Oh I should mention that I only have the XMT line up, I've ordered more products to polish with but I won't be receiving them till next week or so. So any pointers please feel free to share.

Like I said it does look bad but it's actually not that bad, I ran my finger nail to see how deep they were and they are just surface scratches I should be able to remove them. I'm hoping to get it at least 95% so I'll take my time with testing all the pads and perhaps the entire XMT line up.

I'm not sure if I'll detail the entire thing all depends how the scratches come out. I doubt that I'll even get paid for it just wanted something to do this weekend, besides he's a cool boss (just in case he reads this hahahaha). I'll post picture of the final results and hopefully I'll be able to remove all the scratches.

:iagree: 100%. That is exactly what I was thinking buddy now as far as pad goes, I was thinking the orange one and just give it maybe two passes or maybe even three passes. I've got the XMT #4 but I'll leave this to last resort, I just don't think it's that bad.

XMT #3 did wonders to my Volvo and I had some bad scratches too, deep scratches and I actually removed some of them. I got the Volvo at 95% that's why I'm expecting to get this truck at 95% as well.

Nica, I'm still waiting to see the Volvo. What are you doing detailing someone elses car.??? You must be really trying to get some good (brown nose) points with you surpervisor.

I'm quite pleased with the results for being the first time and I actually removed some heavy scratches. The owner (my wife) is very happy with the results and has finally accepted me spending all kinds of coin on detailing equipment and supplies. Yea I know seems like brown nosing huh but I'm running out of vehicles to detail...besides he's actually a really nice supervisor, I don't really see him as a supervisor more like a friend and I enjoy chatting with him. He's got interesting story's...and I'm not brown nosing just want to use all the products I've been purchasing. Besides my supervisor said that he has done quite a bit of detailing as well and at first he wanted me to let him borrow the PC and the products and he was going to do it but I told him that I rather do it my self.

Nuke33 - I was thinking of using the PC first see how it does, depending how well the PC does I may use the rotary. I've been itching to use the rotary, I've been using it on my old Jeep and the rotary isn't that bad...haven't burnt any paint just yet. Mind you it's kinda hard to burn paint with the Edge 2K pads but I'm always careful and cautious, low rpm nothing higher then 1200. Wet sanding, I thought about it but I don't really think it's necessary besides I don't have my paint gauge just yet so I'm not quite ready to venture out with wet sanding and another reason why I'm very couscous with the rotary and another reason why I'm thinking the PC. If I'm not mistaken the truck is about 3 years old (maybe less), it’s in good shape and has never been detailed. I didn’t need my supervisor to tell me that either, just by looking at it you’ll know it has never detailed. That thing has so many swirls looks like one of Toto's vehicles

Thanks buddy, not bad huh. It took me some time but I'm very pleased with it. I sure learned lots from doing the Volvo. I got over my fear with the PC and went off and bot a Metabo roatary...now the rotary is sweet.
