Well wishes needed uegently

These surgeons are amazing. My Dad had a quad bypass a while back - all went extremely well.

UPDATE: After 5 hours of surgery, he is now in recovery. Of the 4 blood vessels that needed bypassed, they could only do 3, because they couldn't find the last one, too much scar tissue. But the good news is that the 3 they did get to are the primary ones and the fourth is just a branch artery. We just left the hospital a few hours ago and the wife is sleeping, she didn't sleep very well last night as you can imagine. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes and let's hope the rest of his recovery goes as well.

Great News...continued thoughts and prayers for a swift and complete recovery!
 
UPDATE ON FIL: The GOOD NEWS: His heart is working better than it was before the operation, BUT this morning at 6:00 he arrested and they had to perform CPR on him for three minutes and his lungs are filling with fluid. So they had to do a second operation so they could perform a "reverse dialysis" on him, where blood is taken from one leg and sent through a machine that oxygenates the blood and sends it back into the other leg. This serves to "dry out" his lungs and give his kidneys a jumpstart. He is also been intubated and a machine is breathing for him so his lungs can 'rest.' He is being completely sedated for a minimum of 48 hours to let the procedures work and to keep him from moving around and disturbing the processes.
Right now though he is more or less stable and the Drs have said that they have seen worse and that at this point thee is nothing wrong that can't be fixed, his kidney function is improving and his lungs are clearing. We should know more in a few days.
 
Hang in there... Prayers he continues to improve and makes a complete recovery.
 
Whoah. Thats pretty scary to read. Pleasing to know the Drs are confident though, that must ease the concerns a little?

Despite this set back, it sounds as though the doctors are confident that all will be well. We'll keep praying, keep the faith!
 
Well I didn't want to say anything too soon, the Drs took him off the machine that oxygenated his blood about 4 days ago and he woke up two days ago. He remembers quite a bit and is lucid and doing a little talking. He specifically asked for his bible and two navel oranges. He was on a liquid diet for the first day and is now on a soft diet. I haven't heard from his heart Dr, but his Kidney Dr is amazed at his body's progress and I suppose the kidney function and the heart function are kind of tied together in a case like this. He will most likely go from the hospital to a rehab center (across the street conveniently enough) before coming home. Needless to say the family is delighted and my wife has been spending the evenings (4-10) with him. He hopes to be able to go to his grandson's graduation from high school on the 13th and is really going to try and make it.

Now it looks like we're in the recovery process.
 
That's great news! I hope he continues to improve and I hope he makes it to his grandson's graduation! Sounds like he will :)
