Wetsanding through clear coat ?

That's definately into the e coat. I wouldn't polish or do anything more, as you'd be causing more damage.

Take it to a bodyshop and get it resprayed. Being towards the middle of the door a shop "should" be able to blend within the panel.

I'd expect for good work, and top notch materials you would be in the $350-$450 range. At least that's what I'd charge, depending on the price and how many variants of that color.

Good luck, sometimes the best lessons are learned the hard way.

Hello guys,

Thanks for all your replies, very appreciated.

I'l take my car to a bodyshop, hope they'l be able to blend this.

Thanks !

The body shop will be able to paint/blend, (find a reputable one)

It "burned" through oh well it happens, move on.

I was talking to my estimator uncle and he said "we have about 3-4 detailers" and burning through the paint happens about 1-2 times a month!

(That is a lot IMO)

Good thing your car has metallics...

The feeling of burning through paint is horrible IMO....

Ya, didn't even fell it, I was doing it by hand.. I'l stick w. 3000 :)

I find it very odd people don't practice wet sanding on a test panel from the junk yard. Instead they do it on their own cars first or customers cars. Use some common sense when doing stuff like this it will save you a huge headache. Don't me to be an ass but really I see post all the time where people have no idea what there doing when it comes to wet sanding.

These people almost all seem to be newbs. I'm not sure where they get the idea that sanding a scratch is a good idea, but IMO their failure isn't from not practicing, it's from not knowing what they are doing in the first place. They aren't going to get a junk panel to practice on because they go into this not even realizing they could sand thru the paint, which is of course why it happens to them.

Yea, but it makes for good television!

;popcorn:

Nothing a little intercoat, basecoat, clearcoat and money won't fix

From my past experiences, we HAD to wet sand, which was a drag. "Buffing" was fun however. :D

I've never blended black.

I STILL don't know why you would continue using ANY sort of sandpaper. 3000 grit? Why? Why not use a compound or a polish????
