Tentatively enough, some discussion about my disdain for PERL as a tire dressing (on some threads earlier this week) has motivated be to do an objective durability test against a PBMG tire dressing, more specifically, the WG BDTG. I just want to disclose my bias for WG products before this thread gets in started. I will give my objective observations as best to my ability.

OK, yesterday I applied 3 layers of each dressing separate tires: One for PERL, and on for the WG. PERL was diluted 1:1, WG was used straight. I applied the first layer and let set (or cure) for about an hour, give or take 15 minutes (sorry, didn't record exact time, but both dressings cured for the same amount of time.)

After letting the dressings cure, I buffed the tires and let them sit for 30 minutes. Then the second "layer" of each was applied and was left to cure for one hour. The tires were again buffed, and the tires set for one hour before the final "layer" was applied. The last layer was not buffed off.

The last layer was applied last night, around 1700 CST. The truck is not going to be driven until tomorrow around 1600 CST.

First day after application Update:

These are photos of both tire, taken around 1430-1500 CST today. Remember, both dressings were "layered" three times

Hopefully I can get the time to update this thread as necessary.Im the MAN

I'm glad we could help in the other threads, I am excited to see the results!

Initially, they both look very similar- I love the deep sheen though!

It's overcast today, and thus look strikingly similar. In the sunlight, the PERL looks a bit darker/wetter, while the WG looks glossier and a little more natural.

Very interested in seeing your follow-up results.
Thanks for the review!

Hopefully it rains some this week.Im the MAN

I'd like to note that the tires feel different. The tires with PERL feel a bit slick, and the WG feels some what soft.

hard to tell a difference really, both look great to me however! are you doing durability testing as well?. btw ive noticed with that brand of tires(same ones on my test vehicle) they do not shine up much, opti-bond gives a nice satin sheen and looks great then it dulls out in spots do a couple more coats and still the same. crazy how different brands of tires accept dressings differently.

The Almost one-week update!

After a quick clean with water and a MF towel (don't know how this will affect durability, but the look better!Im the MAN)

Some water beading (PERL followed by WG BDTG)

Both still looking good, but I'm seeing better looks in the WG. :props:

Both look good, but in the one week update, PERL looks like it's starting to fade?

Appears to be fading in random spots faster than the WG, we may know for sure next week. As stated, I cleaned the tires up a bit with a spray of water and a clean MF; I don't know how this may affect the durability either.

I'm suprised how much dust they attracted- I haven't had that issue with PERL, but I also don't put it on too thick, and haven't looked that closely at it.

Thanks for the update, thumbs up on the beading shots also!

Remember, I didn't buff the final layer of either. Plus, the road to work is quite dirty.

Now that the tires have been cleaned up a bit, I feel this issue will be less apparent next week.
