What’s your take on Amsoil?

The one issue I have with Amsoil is they don't get their products certified to meet the various automaker specs. Not all brands get all the certifications, but I don't think Amsoil has any at all. They simply state it "meets" various specs. This doesn't mean the products are bad, but could be a problem with a warranty claim.
Some might say they are smart not paying royalties to the OEMs.

I've heard that before, but it's a double edged sword. They might not pay royalties but at the same time, they are missing an entire customer base who look for the proper seal on the bottle. Personally, I can't help but wonder why they don't do it as it would make the products a little more legitimate. At least it shows the owner of the standard has had some part in validating the claim.

I've bought other products from other industries where a vendor claimed the product to be made to a certain standard of quality or interoperability, and it clearly wasn't.

Best I can find is $4,000 + 9 cents a quart.

GM supposedly makes $45 million a year off Dexo's labeling

Supposedly the base oil Amsoil uses is the same as Mobil 1 but Amsoil uses a better additive package.
