Hi Everyone,

What do you guys think about the following two combos, which would work best on a swirled black lexus:

COMBO#1
1. Meguiars Ultimate Compound (LC Orange pad - car has swirls)
2. Meguiars M205 (LC black pad)
3. Multiple Coats of Zaino Z2 and Z5 (LC blue pad)

COMBO#2
1.Wolfgang Swirl Remover 3.0 (LC White pad)
2.Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (LC Black pad)
3.Multiple Coats of Zaino Z2 and Z5 (LC Blue pad)

Which would be the most effective ? From the many searches I have done not sure you can go wrong wither either combo ??

:whs: What John said.

Which ones do you already have? First off, go with what you got. UC is supposed to be user friendly. The same is said about WG TSR and FG.

If you have and decide to use UC and M205, do a test spot on a representative swirled out panel with the M205 to start and see if that doesn't take care of majority of the swirls. If M205 takes care of the swirls, no need to use UC. By the charts in terms of relative aggresiveness UC > TSR (maybe...not positive) and M205 > FG.

Also, UC and M205 use SMAT abrasives, so you can stop polishing at any time. I think TSR and FG are DAT (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) in which case you should work them until the abrasives have fully broken down (I believe when the polish on the paint goes translucent/clear that's when to stop).

I think a lot has to do with your level of expertise. The DAT Wolfgang twins are better suited for beginners or those who don't polish cars on a regular basis. They are pretty much dummie proof ( no offense intended). DAT products tell the user when they are done. SMAT products such as your first choice require the user to control the process so some level of expertise is required. The user has to know when to quit. Either choice will work. I'm not a Zaino fan so that would not be my choice for either solution.

I disagree with your logic.

Well, theres no way to know until you actually do a test section but I'm sure you don't want to buy both just to see which is best for you. LOL

Either one should be able to handle that as they are consistently successful on many paints.

John, I don't quite understand your argument. Smat and Dat are to be handled differently but I don't see how you consider DAT to be more dummy proof than smat. The user has to know when to quit with either product. In fact with DAT its more important than smat when you quit.

Im not saying I prefer smat over dat or v/v. I am case by case with which polishes I like but I just don't agree I guess.

To each there own
