What am i doing wrong?

I like that color a lot. One of my favorites. I just like the original Z06 satin type wheels a little better vs the chromes. But a nice ride, nonetheless!

Sorang - as sort of a n00b, I used 205 followed up with 105 and then Klasse AIO on a few of my cars for very good results. But was others said, the pad has to be prepped properly and you have to take 5-6 fairly slow passes at a high speed with the 205. I dropped the speed from 6 to 4-5 for the 105 and a bit more for the Klasse. It takes a while to do all this - I spent 8-10 hours doing it on my first car (my old little pickup truck). Of course I'm a semi-noob, so take all that with a grain of salt and good luck!

Why are guys following 205 with 105? Am I reading this wrong? Shouldn't you be doing it the other way around? Do the 105 (compound) the follow that with 205 (polish).

Same thing I thought, but I am in the very NOOB status myself.

What pad combination did you wind up using with each product, M105 and M205?

Yea, brain fart on the earlier post. I did 105 ultra cut compound followed by 205 ultra finishing polish. Then Klasse AIO. :)

Yep, I did the 105 followed by the 205. I ended up using my orange LC CCS pad. I still ordered a couple flat pads and a couple MF pads because i might need those when i do my Daily driver. Its in worse shape than the Vette was in. The car looks as perfect as a 99 could look. there were some scratches i couldn't correct and the typical stone chips of a low profile 100,000 mile car. My Opticoat arrived today so im going to wipe the car down with my Griots Garage paint prep and apply that tomorrow or Sunday. I think i might wait and watch the coatings live feed Sunday at 11am.

Thanks! if i had a black or silver car the wheels would be the satin ones. But this color is so bright and on the lighter side that it need a wheel that pops to go with it. :xyxthumbs:

Everything is done and the car has never looked better. I have one question left. How should the finish feel after i apply the Opti-Coat 2.0? it does't see to feel as smooth as it did with a good layer of wax on it. is this normal or should it feel the same or better?

opticoat does not feel as slick as a sealant but it can be topped with Reload or OCW which will add slickness. You might lose a bit of the dirt shedding properties of OC if you do this however.

did you use griots paint prep or pre wax cleaner? AFAIK, paint prep should be rinsed off, not just wiped off...

best pic i could get with the point and shoot. This is on a panel that i have already gone over with 105.

That's micro-marring. You can get that out with 205 and a white pad.

I used the paint prep and did rinse it off. From the sounds of it, it feels like it should so i think i did it all right! lol
