What am I missing??

What I am missing? - I am not getting the shine/sparkle that I expected after waxing my car. I have a black Audi TT that I just washed, waxed with AIO, and buffed with a gray pad - the car is really clean and looks great but it does not have that great shine/sparkle that I was hoping for. I did a small area with Griots Best of Show wax and didn't really see any improvement so I quit. I recently saw a black VW that had a great (almost too much) shine and that's what I am looking for. My car looks dark/wet in the shade but in the sun it loses a lot - it almost looks like it is gray - kind of a cloudy (or milky) look. Any suggestions will be appreciated - tia.

Imperfections (swirls/marring/scratches) are the cause of the degradation in your paints appearance.

You need to level the clear (remove imperfections) to get "back to black".
