What are your Foam Gun thoughts?

After a little Searching found the foam gun was became popular around June of 2006. Now that many have used it for about 10 months what are your thoughts? Is it better than the two bucket system? Do you find it, at all, cumbersome to use? Do most of you have a quick disconnect to use your own nozzle or does the foammaster nozzle work well enough once disconnected from the canister? Do you spray the whole car as many pics show or do you do section by section like you would without the gun? Was looking to buy it but gotta ask these questions prior to spending $60 to spray soapy-water.

I didn't spend $60 on the Gilmour Foamaster, but did spend about $20 at the one that Lowe's sells. I am very pleased with it.
 
the foam gun is awesome recived mine last week and love it. i use it with d/p extreme foam solution and it sprays a ton of foam . what i do is spray the car first with the foam let it soak for 30 sec or so then start washing with the 2 bucket method always even with the gun . also its fun to use . i say pick one up there great. its going to come in real handy in the winter when my trucks full of salt.
 
Trh raises a good point: even if you're using the Foamaster, I would still use the two bucket method.

I have the autogeek foam gun, if you are a car washer, this item is great to have!

My Avalanche is a DD, I can't put 4-5hrs into a full detail each week for it to be left outside 24x7 ... so, washing that plus the Pilot takes time! The foam gun actually helps speed up the weekly washes. I have 6 eurow mitts that I use with the 2 bucket method ... I don't really "rinse" until I'm done, unless I'm in direct sun?

2 vehicles washed, stoner'd winders, spray-n-gloss'd paint, tire shined ... right around 1hr!

yup...you can even fill it with degreasers....and mix up just about anything liquid in them...
 
you can use any good car shampoo some soaps make for better foam..AG sells the DP extreme foam soap developed for the FG

When my truck is very dirty, I fill it 50/50 with PB Bug Squash and Megs Gold Class. Works great!
 
Used my AG foamgun 3 times now and im very pleased with it, i use it to apply soap to the cars before i presure wash them. It depends on how "strong" soap u use, when it comes to removing dirt and grime from the paint. Got DP extream soap for now, but tryed with the NXT wash to (also works well) Next out will be the Poorboys SS&S wash.

Makes washing even more fun (keep away from children, or the 128oz of DP extrem foam is quikly goooone)
 
yes you can use any soap in them. I even put hot water in mine to make more suds. I just did a 50/50 mix with purple passion and GC for the engine,wheel wells, and rims and tires. I usually mix about 2oz of soap in it and then spray down the whole truck and let it run off the sides when it looks like it is drying up I rinse the truck off with the pressure washer. I am hoping that the pre soak is removing the larger dirt particles making it less likely to leave larger scratches while washing. Then I use the two bucket method.
 
i love the foam gun. i got mine just over 2 weeks ago and i find myself looking for any excuse to wash, even under these rediculous water restrictions (one wash a week, on the weekend only, and car has to be on the grass).
 
I just want to try one out haha, i heard the cheaper ones from like lowes just use a lot more soap
 
its an extremely valuable piece in detailing, and when used properly I believe it helps to reduce swirls. (presoaking, respraying)
