What are your winter prep plans?

I've used 3 bottles of AW and it really produces the results for me, hence 3 bottles! I will buy a gallon over the winter for sure. Its true that its no quick detailer from the stand point of not using it on a slightly dusty car and I've noticed that when using AW, check it out about a half an hour later....pops!

What was your old stuff BTW?

Here's a link to my other stuff. I use the Quick Detail with wax. So far it's been pretty good, but this site has me ordering and trying all kinds of stuff.

Des Moines Iowa Cleaning

I'll strip the current protection with some CG CWG.
Give it a clay treatment.
Flip a coin for either Optimum Polish II or Menz Power Finish.
I just might coat it with the rest of the System X I have, or at the least the lower parts. If not, I'll top with two coats of either BFWD or #845. I love the Wet Diamond, but I've used #845 a few times recently on silver, and man does it make it shine.
Wheels will get sealed and Migliore Wheel Seal.
Trim will get Wolf's Trim Coat. (I've yet to get this to work right. It never seems to last for me.)

That's for this weekend...I wanted to do it this week, but midterms... grrr...

I found some of the Aquapel at a local O'Reilly store for about $12. Put it on the windshield and one side window before it went dry. Boy, it sure is expensive stuff for as little as you get. Oh well, we shall see how it holds up for winter.

After applying Aquapel, do you guys use any other products to maintain/clean it? Do you use any type of detailer or wax?

Sorry, noob here.

Winter will be no different than the rest of the year it will all be done with **********************OPTIMUM******************************

My winter prep will take place at the end of the month:
Wash
Clay
Menzerna 4500 ( polishing the existing opti-coat)
Heavy coating of Permanon.

Pretty easy plans: FK425 on my car. I plan on using OCW in between to spruce up the car.

Just ordered some new stuff to try, but here is what i'm thinking...since i have noticed a couple scratches since the last fall detail.

CG CWG/Dawn mixture for wash
decon the paint with Ultima Elsatrofoam
Scratches with Megs UC or WG TSR
Polish with Menz SF4000 or 4500
Opticoat 2.0
KAIO for the exterior windows

then hopefully something good for my hard textured plastic.

just did all this to my car, my moms, and just finished my sisters tonight.

2000 A6
-CG citrus wash + 1Z W99 APC w/foam cannon
-wolfs decon gel on lower panels and wheels
-clay via autoscrub
-wolfs WP-6H on select section areas w/cyan hydrotech pad
-Menz 106FA w/red hydrotech pad
-IPA wipedown
-2 coats of wolfs hard body
-adams VRT on trim

2012 Impreza
-CG citrus wash + 1Z W99 APC w/ foam cannon
-wolfs decon gel on lower panels and wheels
-clay via autoscrub
-Menz 85RD w/red hydrotech pad
-IPA wipedown
-2 coats of wolfs hard body
-adams VRT on trim

2011 Jetta
-CG citrus wash + 1Z W99 APC
-wolfs decon gel on lower panels and wheels
-clay bar by hand...autoscrub left some marring on test section..yes, its Jet Black

-Blackfire SRC compound w/CCS orange pad on select panels
-Blackfire SRC finishing polish w/CCS white pad..amazing combo on this particular paint.

Each car took about 10 hours, but the jetta took close to 13. that car took me forever to prep and find a polish/pad combo that worked well...should have expected it though, its my sister car lol

I have high hopes for Wolfs hard body, hope it lives up to the hype! will report back after this winter.

my plans during winter..
-decon wheels w/ wolfs decon gel monthly
-use wolfs nano shampoo via foam cannon monthly
-QD w/ wolfs nano spray every 2 weeks
...weather permitting of course

Winter prep..... The most dreaded thing ever.....

For me it will not be to bad this year it don't think.

Truck: already has OG on it. So just some Permanon or ReLoad and it will be good. Winter washes will be in a "heated" garage, so will most likely be std. Or rinseless with ONR.

Wife's car: has CQ on the paint and OG on the wheels. Prep and washing will be the same as the truck.

My car: wash, clay, IronX. Werkstat Prime Strong, Acrylic Jett x2or3. Topping with Sonus Acrlic Glanz after washes as desired.

But after using BFCS and WGLS I may choose to use one of these on top of the werkstat combo.

Reference aqua wax: I bought a bottle in early summer due to its reviews. I have to say its not a poor product, but I was looking for some advantage over my current QD. I understand Aquawax isn't really a QD since its has to be used on a clean vehicle, but I saw no advantage when compared to my old stuff. Any thoughts?

Also wondering about Aquapel. Do they sell it OTC anyplace? Better than rain-x?

Never used aquapel, but always used rain-x. Applied gtechniq's g1 about a month and a half ago and find it amazing compared to rain-x. We just have rain in Michigan currently and I almost never use my wipers anymore. Curious to see how it holds up with snow and ice. Sure it's pricey, but in my eyes you usually get what you pay for, especially with the claim of lasting 20,000 miles. I prepped with g4. Kinda time consuming, but worth it if it lasts and I don't need to reapply something every few months

Nice to hear others plans for winter! Unless you're one that gets zero snow or salt.

I just completed winter prep on my fathers truck and will be doing the same to my mother's and mine when time is available.

Bump for others plans!

I will not do anything until Thanksgiving or later.:D

My bi annual thing is:

Nano skin auto scrub
Duragloss 601/501 combo
Duragloss 601/105 combo
V7 after every wash thereafter.
