What bare essentials to keep in trunk?

I'm just a weekend warrior here. I have no need to carry a massive arsenal with me at all times. I have a fairly large collection of detaling items at my home. Rarely go on long road trips. If the car gets filthy or something crazy happens I will just take it home to wash it. I had looked into getting a small bag like the Sonax trunk organizer or a detailer's bag but decided it was just way more than I would ever need on the road and would take up too much trunk space.

I purchased a small velcro cargo net to put on the inside of my trunk to carry a few detailing essentials with me at all times. The net is fairly secure and is about 16" wide. I figured I would carry a couple of MF towels in ziplock bags, a bottle of Meg's Ultimate quik detailer, a container of Meg's quik interior detailer wipes and some glass wipes. Any other suggestions as to an essential item to add to it?

Here's the cargo net I bought, (not my car, just the stock photo):

At ALL times I carry Ultima Waterless Wash, 1z Cockpit Premium, and microfiber for exterior, interior, and glass. I have a mobile bag with quite an arsenal but I only "load up" when I plan to do a complete wash away from home.

Bottle of QD, can of Stoners glass cleaner, a plastic glass cleaner wand, 1 or 2 clean MF towels.
For a trip I'll bring tarminator, bug sponge, and some spray wax.

I only carry a small bottle of diluted ONRWW and a microfiber for bird bombs. On vacation I load up my Autogeek Trunk Organizer with everything I need for a full wash, microfibers, quick detail, tires, windows, spray wax etc..

The two most important things,

  • Clean microfiber towels
  • Waterless wash or spray detailer
These would be for removing bird droppings or bug splatter as soon as possible to prevent them from eating through or etching your car's paint past the point of repair.

Here's a tip...

Place your clean microfiber towels in 1-gallon zip-lock bags to ensure they stay contaminant free until needed.

Thanks for all the advice. Here's what I ended up with:

-Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer
-Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer
-Stoner's Invisible Glass Cleaner
-Ziploc bagged microfiber towels for paint, interior and glass.

I like it. Fits nicely in the corner of my trunk. It's very secure and unobtrusive. Should be able to handle anything I may encounter on the daily drive.

Bird poo is the only reason I keep a MF in my truck with some WW. But this may be changing because the love bugs that I hate are starting to show up again here in south Fl.

What I keep in my vehicle really changes with season and conditions. Now that we might have a hurricane heading are way I am going to recoat all the glass on my truck and my parents cars.
