What brush or product do you use...

I use soft tipped bottle brushes with long flexible shafts like these.

I ordered a brush sort of like Larry uses weeks ago, I forgot about it, I found it next to my door when I got home on Friday.
It cost 5 bucks with free shipping.
I used it yesterday and was so impressed with it, to a point I'll have to look it up and order a few more.

One of those products you buy that you really don't think will be good but you find it to be awesome.

Not one bristle came off and I used it a lot.
Made with boars hair.

All of the boars hair brushes I seem to find are either very expensive or fall apart quickly.

The smaller Daytona brush or the small wheel woolies. Should be able to tackle anything you'll run into.

Instead of making long strokes with the Daytonas try making shorter ones it reduces the "spray back"

I agree with EVERYTHING that's been said about Daytona (type) brushes, no matter what color they are. They are GREAT cleaning tools. They will get into areas that you cannot reach. They'll spread out and scrub inside nooks and crannies where other brushes won't. They WILL CLEAN all sorts of areas that you otherwise wouldn't be getting clean.

OTOH, They'll flip and flop and spit product, gook, gunk, soap, and whatever else is inside of them for what seems like miles in all directions. Making a mess with them is something they do as well, (if not better) than they clean! :) Good idea in a lot of places with Daytona's are to push it into a tight place and lay a wet MF over the top before you start agitating the brush so it can help control the flying mess. ;)

Woolies, clean without flopping all over the place. They also clean without scratching on more sensitive areas. They may not get into some of the tighter places, so Daytona's are still needed in some of these places.

I *LOVE* those bottle brushes! Got to find me some of those suckers. That looks like a killer design that could be expanded beyond just the tip. Imagine a brush/woolie that was 1" soft, 1" brush, 1" soft, 1" brush. :) Could change the density and length of the soft as well as density, length and stiffness of the brush sections. Hmmmmm....

I have some similar to this but the centers are plastic, they're several years old and were given to me. Not even sure they're branded.

Wheel Woolies & Brushes over speedmaster/ez brush! No splatter. For really bad jams, just pressure wash for the bulk of the work and finesse with brushes.

I tried making this point before but, couldn't think of how to state it until reading this post. Most people focus on cleaning the inside of the wheel with the half of the brush closest to the tip and pull the brush in and out past the spokes causing splatter. If you use the brush all the way in the wheel it reduces splatter and uses more of the brush, therefore cleaning more of the wheel quicker. Also, if you can manage side to side motions, instead of in and out, you will have no splattered and it may clean the wheel better.
I think a combination of Daytona brushes and Wheel Woolies, along with a round boars' hair brush, will probably serve most detailers very well.

They are sure cheap enough. Do the nylon brushes scratch at all?

Not that I have noticed, but I only use them in tight spaces, so might not be able to see if they scratch. That said, they're pretty soft, so I doubt they would.

But that logic doesn't really make sense. If one single bristle springs back, you will get spray. I've even tried twisting, i still got sprayed.

The Daytona Wheel Brush does have its place in a detailers arsenal. But only if a Wheel Woolie doesn't fit in a tight nook like between a caliper and rim.

Per the rules I can't give you a link here but check your pm:dblthumb2:

A must have, I freaking love this brush that only cost five bucks with free shipping:dblthumb2:
